Pico wins the Queen's Award for Enterprise again!

This month, we've put together a video case study on a BMW noise issue.

We also have two forum posts to share, as well as new exhibition dates to add to the calendar, and two new videos in our 'Best of the web' section.

Finally, check out the new guided test languages in PicoScope 7 Automotive.

Pico wins the Queen's Award for Enterprise

Pico Technology wins Queens Award for Enterprise for the second time!
In April, Pico Technology were again named as winners of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s highest accolade for business success. The award, which has been given during our 30th anniversary year, recognizes our sustained history of designing and PC-based Oscilloscopes, Automotive Diagnostics tools and Data Loggers for widespread use worldwide.

“It is a real honor to receive this award during the same year we are celebrating 30 years of continuous growth as a Company. This is the second time we have won a Queen’s Award since our foundation in 1991,” announced Managing Director Alan Tong. “The company has grown every year since then, contributing to the local and national economy and employing over 176 people at our offices across the globe. I believe that this award reflects not only our own success, but also the continuing importance of the UK’s manufacturing and technology sectors to our country’s prosperity especially throughout the tough last couple of years during the pandemic. I would like to thank the team at Pico, our customers and suppliers and our partners worldwide for their contribution to our story.”

Video case study: Find that rattle!

In this video case study, we investigate a noise issue on a BMW. Diagnosing the source of cabin squeaks and rattles is both time consuming and costly as a result. Trying to reproduce these offending noises may involve multiple road tests with at least one Technician and a driver, often without success!

Using the Pico NVH function generator, the vehicle can be “excited” using a broad range of frequencies generated by the in-car audio system without leaving the workshop. This will leave the Technician free to pursue the source of the rattle which may not be located inside the cabin!

Forum posts

This month, we've compiled some of our favorite posts from the PicoScope Automotive forum:
Re: Maths is cool by Steve Smith
This investigation into non-intrusive testing using our math channels has been almost four years in the making! Check out this testing process put together by Steve Smith, in which a TA143 three-axis accelerometer is used to determine engine power output.
Re: Signal average value by Steve Smith
In this post, we give a brief overview of how to use the Measurement function in our PicoScope 7 Automotive software to show a numerical display of a signal average.
Re: Frequency a simple question by Steve Smith
Like the name suggests, we address a simple query about frequency calculations in this post; we provide an example on our PicoScope 6 Automotive software with its 'Deep Measure' feature... coming to PicoScope 7 Automotive soon!

PicoScope 7 Automotive: New guided test languages and a reminder...!

If you are a non-native English speaker, you may be glad to hear that we are continuing to expand our range of supported guided test languages in PicoScope 7 Automotive. This month, we have added Italian and Traditional Chinese translations to our tests thereby increasing our total language support to include English, German, Italian, Polish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. And there are more to come, so watch this space.

Another key component of our user community is our Waveform Library. We hope that you are enjoying the benefits of the new version included in PicoScope 7 Automotive. The Waveform Library is unique within the automotive oscilloscope market and is a fantastic resource for our PicoScope users–time and time again we see it giving you all those crucial bits of evidence you need to make key diagnostic decisions. We encourage all of you to use it, not just to share your waveforms so the whole community can benefit and grow but also to have your waveforms backed up within it. That way you can have them all in one safe space and can access them across all your computers via your My Waveforms area.
