February 2023

This month's newsletter features a new video case study looking at a Renault Zoe.

An update to Re: Maths is cool investigates the applications of derivative math channels.

In addition, we have plenty of highlights from our PicoScope Automotive forum to share.

Finally, check out the latest from Best of the Web.

Video: Renault Zoe Type 2 charging error - Car or charger fault?

In this case study, Steve Smith investigates a charging error in a Renault Zoe Type 2. Check out the full video for an investigation into the vehicle's lock-pin actuator position and current flow, and to get a good look at the guided tests feature on our PicoScope 7 Automotive software in action.

Math functions and their applications... Re: Maths is cool!

This update to our forum thread, Maths is cool, looks at the applications of derivative math channels across alternative industries, including hydraulic systems and applications.

Hydraulics turns up across a number of disciplines; industrial settings, marine, mining, aviation, and even wind turbines, all take advantage of the ability to move and turn things using the power of fluid. Pico and hydraulics is nothing new, and with WPS600C, we have been supporting a number of technicians in agriculture and construction, and have introduced the off-highway kit for use in these industries.

You can check out the full post on our forum, or visit the Off-Highway landing page for more information about our kits.

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Our PicoScope 7 Automotive Software thread has recently been updated with a breakdown of the software's newest features, and tips and tricks for how to put them to use. This post includes information on Pico Waveform Manager, Safety/Training information, and recent fixes.

Our PicoScope 7 Automotive software is available to download for free on our website.
Re: EV Energy consumption

In this post, Steve Smith uses our PicoLog 6.2.6 to repeat a previous test monitoring electric vehicle charge, investigating parasitic drain.
Re: No communication

In this forum post, Ben Martns takes a look at a user-submitted J1939 CAN capture, initiating an interesting conversation around buffer times and baud rates.
