Using the Pico Reference Waveform Library for dynamic valve timing measurements

In this video, we use the Pico Reference Waveform Library to qualify the Cam & Crank correlation of a "suspect" engine against a known good. The video also describes how to align waveforms captured on differing timebases.

Case study: BMW 330e and Valvetronic

"I was recently asked to look at a BMW 330e (F30) with an engine warning light illuminated. After a system scan, the following fault codes were stored:

- DTC 135808 Position Sensor variable valve control “Faulty operation”
- DTC 135B11 Control motor variable valve control “Open circuit in wiring Phase V”

Focusing on DTC 135B11, this was a perfect opportunity to use the MT03A Motor & Milliohm tester prior to further diagnosis."

In this case study, which originated on the Pico Automotive forum, initial diagnostics on a BMW 330e (F30) with an engine warning light illuminated leads into exciting reverse engineering.
