Pico Automotive Newsletter

October 2022

Welcome to the Pico Automotive October newsletter!

We're excited to share a variety of content with you this month, including a video case study on data logging for Automotive and a PicoAcademy video presentation on pressure testing

In addition, we're featuring the WPS500X Pressure Transducer as our product focus, and sharing our updates to PicoScope 7 Automotive.

Want to see us in person? Check out our list of upcoming exhibitions.

Finally, check out some of our favorite YouTube videos this month in our Best of the Web section.

Data logging for Automotive and heavy equipment

In this video, our own Steve Smith investigates the best methods of using a PicoScope to investigate parasitic drain on a vehicle battery. This video includes an introduction to the PicoLog software, a guide on how to set it up with a PicoScope 4425A, and how to check for parasitic drain using a current clamp and a 0.10 resistor. You'll also get a great look at our PicoBNC+ Temperature Transducer!

Check out the full video here.

PicoAcademy: Pressure testing with PicoScope

This second video presentation in the PicoAcademy series originally aired at Automechanika Frankfurt 2022, and features Jon Parker and Steve Smith providing an in-depth exploration of pressure testing with PicoScope. In this video, our WPS500X Pressure Transducer is the star of the show; if you've wanted to find out more about what WPS is, and its applications, this is the ideal video for you!

WPS500X Pressure Transducer

View, understand and diagnose vehicle pressure systems like never before!

The WPS500X features an extremely fast, 100 µs, response time from 0% to 90% of full scale, and sensitivity down to about 0.07 psi (5 mbar). This provides you with an accurate representation of rapidly changing signals that span a broad pressure range.

Use the WPS500X with PicoScope to have a detailed insight into the engine system and reveal how your engine is actually performing with minimal intrusion. Compression, airflow, valve timing and back pressure can all be measured in one hit, giving you information that can help in solving common problems such as no start, loss of power, misfire, and many more!

- Accurately measure up to 500 psi (34 bar)
- Ultra-fast 100 µs response time
- Zoom function for enhanced analysis capabilities
- Internal rechargeable LiPo battery
- Integrated pressure relief / bleed-off valve
- Auto zeroing
- High noise immunity
- Temperature compensated
