I AM INTERESTED IN TESTING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF AUTOMOTIVE SPEED SENSOR RINGS BY VIEWING THE AC VOLTAGE OUTPUT WAVEFORM THAT IS PRODUCED BY A MAGNETIC SPEED SENSOR. AS THE SENSOR RING SPEED CHANGES SPEED, THE AMPLITUDE AND/OR FREQUENCY OF THE AC VOLTAGE SINE WAVE WILL CHANGE. I WOULD LIKE TO USE A PC TO VIEW THIS WAVEFORM. THE SAMPLE RATE OF THE ADC100 SEEMED SUFFICIENT. THE MEASURED VOLTAGE IS IN THE MILLIVOLT RANGE. THE MAX VOLTAGE CAN BE 10 VAC TO COVER ANY VOLTAGE SPIKES. WHAT OSCILLOSCOPE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

DO YOU HAVE ANY SOFTWARE AVAILABLE THAT CAN BE USED TO PASS OR FAIL A MEASURED WAVEFORM IF EITHER THE SHAPE, AMPLITUDE, OR FREQUENCY OF IT VARY BY (A SOFTWARE ADJUSTABLE AMOUNT) FROM A PRE-DETERMINED "MASTER" WAVEFORM FROM A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR RING?
Thank you for your enquiry. For automotive diagnostics we recommend our automotive scopes, the 3223 or the 3423. If its just the speed sensor you want to measure then an ADC100 will be more than capable of capturing this.
The software will not automatically pass or fail a measured waveform, that is still down to the user. The automotive version of the software has a library of good reference waveforms which the user can compare against if necessary. These reference waveforms are not vehicle specific, just generic waveforms.
