2014 Ford Transit 2.2L Diesel cranks but no start.

Post by Budgie »

Good morning, I have been asked to look at a 2014 Ford Transit with a 2.2L diesel engine fitted. According to my data source the engine code is USR6. The engine has been recently replaced with a reconditioned unit and cranks but no start. Fault code is P0341- camshaft position sensor A circuit range/performance. Signal compare failure. I have attached a PSD file, it looks as if the camshaft reluctor has no reference signature, just a continual square wave. Surely there should be a fixed position on the camshaft that correlates with the crankshaft wave form signature in order that the PCM can calculate the point of injection. Has anyone please got a known good waveform capture for this engine code?

Hello and thank you for the post.

I have just checked the Reference Waveform Library (RWL) and could not find a USR6 Engine code for Ford

I have found a possible match here from K Doerr (Thank you) Please see below:

Please note below, Scope view 2 has the downloaded reference waveforms from the RWL and they apply to the transit above (so not an exact match)

Regarding engine speed they are almost identical

Referring now to the correlation between cam and crank, see the discrepancy below

I think it would be a worthy exercise to repeat these measurements with a number of transits on the RWL to build an average around your model year

Ben has created a video here on how to use the RWL

Here you can find correlation measurement techniques https://www.picoauto.com/support/viewto ... 40#p103440 and a supporting video here

I hope this helps, take care……Steve

Hi.
.
Switching the camshaft sensor signal from high to low level should coincide with the 22 tooth of the crankshaft sensor signal.
In some cases, it can be up to 23 teeth.

In your example - 20 teeth.
