5V adaptor when running a 3403D

Hi - I'm considering a four-channel 3403D.

Remote operation is useful,
so when does the 3403D need to have its 5V adaptor power supply
(as well as a USB3.0 connection)?

The 3403d is a Test & Measurement scope. This is the Automotive Forum and we use very different scopes specifically for automotive use.
