Re: Noise Cancellation with Audacity

I just thought it would be easier than fitting a James Bond ejector seat; it’s the one thing I can’t find on ebay.

I was really after real-time noise cancellation.

Re: Noise Cancellation with Audacity

Damn it, Steve: what a disappointment. I was reading through your post with increasing anticipation that it was going to lead to a method of cancelling out the “customer offending noise” in the form of a whine coming from the passenger seat, or, to be precise, the occupant of the seat.

Re: Dash Cam to NVH

Steve, Looking at the footage again and listening through earphones, I take back what I said above: I don’t see the point of using a different car. (However, if you could get your hands on an identical model ....) The road surface doesn’t look any different in the camera footage: no sign of differen...

Re: Dash Cam to NVH

“ what I have noticed is that it remains between 111 & 113 Hz regardless of road speed and I have tested at 30, 40 & 50 mph !” Steve, That’s really interesting. I must go back and listen with earphones this time, but, on the face of it, that suggests it’s not a true resonance, although I have in the...

Re: Dash Cam to NVH

Plenty of food for thought, Steve. Nevertheless, it’s still quieter than a Rover 100 with its engine off and stationary. Was there anything noticeably different about the road surface at that point? Was that “resonance” sensitive to speed, in that, if you hit the same patch of road say 5mph up or do...

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Iver, "The Invert feature has been around for about 15 years (I think)." I was recently looking for a quick way to invert - other than through Maths Channels - and I've looked again now and still can't find it - nothing in the User Manual either. (I thought there was one, and now I think I got muddl...

Re: Crankshaft Angular Velocity

I did look at this (angular acceleration rather than angular velocity) a couple of years ago, but I don’t think I got very far. I remember playing with it for a while with Maths Channels, and I think I quickly came to the conclusion that the number of teeth on the flywheel (around one for every 10 d...

Re: noise

Lovely .psdata file, Curt; thanks for including it. I can see that your idle speed at the start was 860 rpm, that you took it up to 3297 rpm before taking your foot off the pedal, after which the engine was idling at 842 rpm as the trace ended. Those spikes are ignition spikes. I don't know if they ...

Re: noise

You’re absolutely right, Curt, there is lots of RF noise under the bonnet, which the ECUs filter out. I was watching a ScannerDanner Premium video only yesterday and that very topic reared its head as he connected his PicoScope to the power and ground wires to an ignition coil. He said to his studen...
