Re: scoping MAF-MAP on late diesels

For one, it is difficult to analyze a pulse-train such as what you are describing with the MAF and MAP sensors. Scoping the pulse-train will allow you to monitor the signal integrity and watch for catastrophic signal breakdowns. PicoScope 6 (6.4.28) with a 4000 series DSO will allow you to look at ...

Re: Primary Ignition Coil Renault Megane

Hi Peter, Diagnosing this Renault system is a difficult task for most techs, especially those without scopes, good serial data and everyday familiarity with the system. This is one time where substituting parts is often cheaper and more cost effective for most garages/techs and the customer. Unfortu...

Re: Primary Ignition Coil Renault Megane

Hi Pete,

So you're saying that the higher voltage stayed with the cylinder?

It could be anything affecting this voltage, a slightly different compression, the earth path of that particular plug, the plug, a resistance in the wire or connector.

etc etc

Re: siemens piezo injectors

Hi Tom,

To be honest, I didn't expect you to risk blowing your scope, it was a bit "tongue in cheek"

I am interested in using the math channel as this is an area I haven't really explored yet, will have a look around to see what info there is on this.

Cheers

Re: siemens piezo injectors

Hi All,

Tom, is there any chance you can post a capture using the method you recommend, maybe with the "risky" method on the other 2 channels for comparison?

I am having a hard time visualising it.

Cheers

Low Voltage error

Hi, I have been having a lot of trouble lately, most times getting low voltage errors on compression tests e.g. the scope only seeing 7.2 approx volts and telling me to check connections. I was checking the connections to the battery terminals, using different leads (in case it was a lead fault) etc...
