Re: Ford Focus 1.0L M1DA engine Crankshaft sensor fault code and injectors dropping out intermittently

OK, if you have used break out leeds at sensor side, recorded all 3 wires, then it's not at the sensor connector side for sure.
It just the pattern matched cases I had in the past.

Re: Ford Focus 1.0L M1DA engine Crankshaft sensor fault code and injectors dropping out intermittently

If it is loose pin, it will be related to vibration which will be related to combustions and especially when misfires appears, it should get worse as the vibration got worse. I don't have another idea. Best to do is use the same type male terminal and make terminals tightness test at sensor socket. ...

Re: PWM Actuators.

Hi, I think this is not easy to see and the only way would be to see the current ramp which could look different from correct actuation but this depends on the type of actuator. Lets say the actuator lifting "heavy" needle, there you would see the difference, (some camshaft soelnoid maybe) but an ac...

Re: Ford Focus 1.0L M1DA engine Crankshaft sensor fault code and injectors dropping out intermittently

Hi RYM6746, Here is my possible explanation for your problem. See the spikes on orange math channel for crank sensor signal. each spike represents the sensor signal fault. The signal voltage is dropping low and this is interpreted as another count for engine speed by ECM. it also does not match the ...

Re: PWM Actuators.

I use math channel, positive or negative duty cycle applied on voltage waveform channel. Current by current clamp will look usually OK without any math channel and if you use the right scaling, the current will match (overlay) the voltage math channel accordingly. If let's say the actuator has inter...

Re: a/c refrigerant pressure with WPS

Hello, I have to say, at my last experience, I didn't need to measure the HVAC refrigerant pressures with transducer but I found it interesting. I also don't have answers for your question but more questions, further plans.... Why you don't utilise the in line existing pressure sensor? This I have d...

Re: Porsche Cayenne misfire DTC and engine warning light mystery

Hi Steve, I will get the good know car waveform when the same vehicle is available, it just take some time to have car and time together. Once I have it recorded, I will upload the file here and also to waveform library, good and bad one.

Re: Porsche Cayenne misfire DTC and engine warning light mystery

Hello Steve, Thank you for your comments and additional analysis which I value so much. Regarding the Newsletter, we would be very happy if Pico adds our case studies in, it will definitely motivate the technicians who were working on these cars, diagnosing the problems with Picoscope. As well as ma...

Porsche Cayenne misfire DTC and engine warning light mystery

There are situations where all diagnostic processes taught by mainstream training courses won’t help or lead to wrong direction, I have one such story to share, hopefully it will be inspirational diagnostic process. Customer complaint: Engine warning light appears suddenly while driving, engine low...
