Re: Using Mic to record the noise of automatic transmission

The Mic.is not really the tool to use to measure noise from a transmission, especially if it's a whine or similar high pitched noise. The Mic is going to pick up all sorts of noise that will drown out your noise (the mic will not give you an audible record of the noise). The NVH kit is only going to...

Re: Radio Signal Measurement

It;s not that there should be and isn't. The Radio just isn't on the bus, it doesn't have that functionality.

Re: NVH RPM signal

A decent ELM327 interface from eBay will do the trick and they're pretty cheap. One with a USB Lead is probably the best option. I've done it with my Bluetooth one, but it was a bit unpredictable as to whether The Pico Software picked it up.

Re: Book for NVH study

Google "Volkswagen Noise, Vibration and Harshness Technical Service Training" there's a pdf kicking around of this study program that is pretty good for beginners. Goes into all the basics about frequency, 1st and 2nd. order vibrations etc. You could also have a look at http://alflash.com.ua/avtovid...

Re: New features of Beta NVH software

For the time being, neither I guess. I would hang on for the clip on mics. What I'm hoping the clip on mics will allow me to do is...get a quantitative measurement of squeaks, creaks and knocks , so i can triangulate to pin point the source of a noise. I'm not sure I'll be able to do that with the c...

Re: WTF Is Going On Here?

Drives me a bit nuts not knowing what's going on, but I guess it's going to be one of those ones where you just have to be satisfied knowing you fixed the issue.

Re: WTF Is Going On Here?

I replaced the Engine Control Module and hasn't missed a beat since. I suspected the ECU before I loaded the post, as there was no signal from the ECU at times. But I'd never seen anything like the big negative voltage spike before and didn't know how that would come about.

Re: New features of Beta NVH software

This is sort of why I was asking. I've experimented with Piezo Transducer Mic's from a chassis ear kit we had and also bought some Transducers myself and made my own Mic's and I found it was difficult to get consistent results. I did a little bit of research as to whether giving each Mic. it's own A...
