sorry got the pump out and replaced though did notice that when i scoped the pump on the bench it seemed to be ok have ordered new pump will post up new capture when fitted
Thanks - please do post a capture with the new pump. Let me explain my request a bit better....
At 20ms/div (or longer) you will have at least one complete engine cycle so everything occurs at least once. Your waveform worries me a little bit as a fuel pump on its way out usually shows drops in current rather than a rise. I wanted to see a longer timebase just to be sure that the peak in current is not related to an injector or ignition coil firing.
I suspect Lee has asked for the exact model for similar reasons - is there any chance that the circuit you measured also supplies other components. This can be a risk when measuring from fuses in particular, it might say its the fuse for the fuel pump but on some cars this can mean fuel pump plus a load of other stuff as well.
is the model also think i may have made an error oops since the fuse i think may power something else although i did not have a wiring diag. at the time i did pull the fuse and using live data checked for 02 sensor volts etc and seemed ok and did not log any fault codes also i looked at the capture and the rising bad bit is not in the same place each time which i am bassing on the fact that this part of the trace is not always in the same place based on the missing tooth on the flywheel it did seem random
