Hall effect not pulling down to 0v

Post by mustansir »

Hello, i have a mitsubishi 4d56 16v, non starter, no live at injectors, crank sensor error codes, i cant get a read from crank sensor but just realised ive been testing it wrong it looks like its a inductive sensor ive been trying to get a read from it as a hall effect. Decided to check timing and realised the crank cog has many tiny teeth and a small gap with no teeth. Ive scope the cam sensor and it doesnt pull down to 0v, ive never seen one not pull down to 0. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Check the sensor ground at terminal 87, it must read 0 V. Using a floating ground if not and try a ground on the engine block and battery earth. The sensor is switching so either a ground fault or supply fault?

Thank you, will check and update.
I searched the forum before I posted, another user had a similar problem with a crank sensor on a mitsubishi, someone advised to fit a pull down resistor between signal and earth.

Are you sure this is a hall sensor and not magneto resistive .
Just a thought before you get two bogged down

It's been a long time, but ...
This is normal for this engine.
It seems that sensors - MRE are installed.
The ECU works normally with such signals.
