I got a Focus in, that starts really bad, idles poorly, almost doesn´t rev,
only if you hit it WOT then it slowly increases rpm.
Sounds like it would have a plugged exhaust.But same with Cat taken off.
And makes puffing noises from engine bay when it dies off at idle.
Checked Codes - nothing
Checked Fuel pump current - looked not so bad.
Checked Fuel pressure - around 3,5bar key on and idle (if you call it so).
Then checked Cam vs Crank - Good Picture at around 3800 rpm attached.
Then took WPS in Cyl.1 and ignition Pickup on Cyl.1 Coil wire (going to Sparktester)
I would say the Timing is off, would anyone agree with this ?

Where do i find the engine code on this Car ?
Partslink doen´t show it with the VIN.

When scanning the cars data, The engine code is identified on an AutoSearch together with the VIN when using the Launch x431 & similar scanners. Also, a quick goggle search will give you information to identify its engine code. (is the owners handbook with he car) Youll need the engine code to be certain of what youre asking on here to be acurate. There are 2, FYDA & FYDB.
I personally cannot see if your Cam Vs Crank is out as I do not have a known good trace on either engine code to refer to (I cant get to the Reference waveform Library at the moment as my scope is at work and I need to have it attached to gain access) I can only assume you have checked the Library and there isnt one?
I dont know how 'Technician' on here has drawn his conclusion from the Cam Vs Crank trace?
Q Technician - Do you have a known good please? I only ask as Im eager to learn by scrutinising all i can get hold of. It would be good to measure and verify Cam Vs Crank against the WPS Compression & Ignition info.
However looking at your WPS compression trace against the same cylinder ignition, it appears that the timing is wrong. I measure it at nearly 36degrees AfterTDC, (35.85degrees AferTDC to be precise) furthermore the compression towers are leaning uneven indicative of a leaking cylinder. That said, given the age of the car, im not surprised. The EVO event looks reasonable using generic specs, dont misinterpret me here, it is out a little on generic specs (Edit: EVO event circa 10degrees late) but i suspect not too far off when someone gives us valve specs for this vehicle perhaps.
I think youve enough information to pull the covers off and physically check timing whether the Cam/Crank trace is out or not. After all its really easy to do on this car.
At "idle" , if you get it to rev up a little
then you get around 20 on the Decel for
about 1 second, if you let it idle, it drops
and drops till around 3, then Engine cuts out.
Its way to low , I would anticipate around 25hg and smooth at idle .
May be worth running through checking the valve clearances as well as checking the valve timing ,just ensure you use the correct timing pin for the crankshaft.
The mechanical timing is correct.
Put in Timing tool, turned Crank till it stopped, and
the Tool for the CAMs slides in with no pressure.
