Hi,does anyone know if a broadband o2 sensor gives any usable data when the engine is cranking over, also are the short term fuel trim readings of any use when the engine is cranking over ?.
Apologies for answering a Question with another Question.
Please elaborate. what issues are you facing. What Car, Model, Engine Code, Symptoms, Fault Codes etc. .... .... ..... ..... ..
As for gaining anything from any O2 sensor whilst Cranking -
1. They don't work until they are up to temperature
2. Most cars start up with a slight Rich Strategy, different from Idle / running strategy.
3. The ECU wont be listening to the O2's until it is in closed loop
Cheers for the reply. Its something that i have never had the need to think about before. I had a none starter and it wasn't making any sense because it had everything it needed to start ie. compression, fuel, spark, etc etc.It was a petrol that had been wrong fueled with diesel, but it eventually fired in and now runs sweet. Thanks again.
