rolling back action fault

Post by MAE »

I have had pico automotive working fine on this computer. This morning i loaded the program and it popped up with an update available. So i clicked on update and when it was done pico was not on my computer anymore???

I went to the web site and reinstalled the program but as it is installing it comes up in the install bar "rolling back action" and takes everything off?? I tried the beta release and same thing happened. please help

Hello and thank you for the post.

This is disappointing for sure, could you try the following for me?

Ensure both PicoScope versions are uninstalled (Beta and Stable)

We then need to delete the contents of the following folders

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Pico Technology\

Windows Vista/7/8: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Pico Technology\

The example below is for Windows 8
APP DATA CONTENTS.jpg
Could you then locate the the folders in the images below?
DELETING THE BETA FOLDER CONTENTS.jpg
UNINSTALL AND DELETE PICOSCOPE FOLDER.jpg
I would like you to delete the contents of these folders (Not the folders themselves)

Could you then try to reinstall the stable version only?

Should the install prove unsuccessful, could you create an install log file and send these over to support@picotech.com

To create an install log file please take a look here at topic10701.html

Sorry for all this additional work but we will resolve this for you

Take care......Steve

ok i deleted the files as suggested and tried to reinstall, no luck same fault. I noticed i still had the old install file on the computer "picoscope6automotive_r6_10_11" in my downloads folder, so it tried that one and it installed first go no problem

Wasn't there a warning somewhere about updating to 6.10.16 if you had an older version before trying to load the Beta?

Many thanks again for your patience on this matter surrounding updates.

This issue has been addressed and will be under-test for a beta build a soon as possible.

In the meantime there is a work around thanks to our colleagues in both the UK and US (Thank you again)

The temporary fix surrounds disabling Driver Signature Verification until you install the software.

For an explanation on How To could you visits the link below?

http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to- ... d-drivers/

"You shouldn't have to do this, as long as the computer has the latest Windows updates installed for Windows 8.1 however - there might be an issue with how one of the updates was installed".

Once again a big thank you to all involved with the information above and the new up and coming beta build

Any feedback would be most appreciated, take care.......Steve

Steve,

In our experience only Asus PCs are affected. Specifically tablet models.

Has this been your experience as well? If so, why only Asus?

Thanks for the heads up re ASUS.

Not sure if this is the case as there are reports of Toshiba Encore 2 (Tablet) with identical symptoms.

As soon as the new Beta build is available we can get to work with these machines.

Take care......Steve

I got a asus t100 hybrid tablet/laptop.
That installs pico 6 non auto. Just fine, but the automotive one, does this thing and rolls back?? What to do, im currently upgraded to win 10. It is 32 bit version. Any idea??
