have just fitted a sim module on steering column of vauxhall astra 07 plate 1.9 dti [z19dt]
but vehicle still wont start we were getting numerous comms faults recorded in ecus that can be read but also some that cant, including u2103 can data mulfunction & p1613 immobiliser defective with new sim fitted no comm now to engine ecu ,abs, convenience ,steering or instruments & when trying to do key reprogramme get message that a valid security code is already programmed
had tech 2 connected by "airbag man" to up load software but would not communicate to do that either he suspected a canbus problem these are the can high images recorded at sim multiplug
any one any idea if this is a wiring issue ecu issue or a software problem ?
cheers Mike

Mike,
you are not going to be able to tell if its a node, software, or wiring issue just by scoping the CAN... your going to have to start doing some testing...
if you saying your capture is the CAN H & L then you got a problem on that bus, give us a list of what you can talk to, I am surprised you have installed a CIM and programmed it with a network problem???

Darren.what test should do in a Can bus problem like this????
I don't know the network topology off my head on a vauxhall but sure there will be 2 seperate networks ( high speed and low speed network).
I would print a network diagram and establish if every module you can't communicate falls on the same network then decide on the next test after that .
You may end up disconnecting modules until the CAN lines return to normal if a module is 'pulling' the line down or it maybe a power/ earth problem to a module(s).
