Range Rover L405 TDV8 4.4 Crankshaft vs Camshaft waveform capture

Post by EVAUTOS »

Hello would anyone have a waveform as above please?
I found a post on here for Unstable idle by a poster called Alexandr, which shows an image.
viewtopic.php?t=22028

Please could someone provide a psdata file for a known good capture?

Going by the pictures in the unstable idle post, the vehicle I am looking at is definitely incorrectly timed, but it would be nice to see by how many degrees it is out by as stripping the engine to correct it is a large job.

The same engine in an L322 (2011) appears to be different signals.
This vehicle is a 2013 model year.

regards, Andrew

It's looking like the cams on this one could be 180 degrees out. it's difficult to measure the degrees from the image above.

I've spent almost an hour searching but I just can't find a similar waveform, either from Range Rover, Ford or BMW.
Do you have an pressure transducer with diesel adapters?

Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to look for me.
I may hopefully get a capture tomorrow from another friend.
I do have wps500 and first look sensors. I could set up to capture exhaust and intake events, but without injector triggering it will be difficult to ascertain whether it is out 180 degrees.
It does however trigger the injectors briefly after prolonged cranking, but unfortunately I wasn’t monitoring relative compression when I was cranking it. I will possibly get time to get a capture with relative compression in order to hopefully see where the injectors are triggering when they do very briefly and then I could hopefully see where injection is occurring in relation to TDC.
Hopefully I might get a known good ckp/cmp before I need to do the above though.
Regards, Andrew
