Hello and thank you for the post and the video

Just to clarify.....

Using PS7 7.0.114 Early Access with macOS you have "Close without warning" as seen in your video?

No trace file can be sent (as per your image)?

I will create a bug report immediately

Take care......Steve

Thank you once again to the software teams for their continued dedication to the development of PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access 7.0.116 (inc. Pico Diagnostics 1.16.83.0) which can be downloaded here https://www.picoauto.com/downloads

New features

Pico Waveform Manager (WM)

PicoScope 7 now includes a Waveform Manager (WM) feature within the Reference Waveform Library (RWL). More information on the RWL can be found here viewtopic.php?p=102264#p102264 and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4YPL-z ... Automotive

The Waveform Manager (WM) will enable users to bulk upload their psdata files to our cloud storage facility where they are safely stored (when complete) for editing, loading references, or downloading accordingly.

Note: Files present in the Waveform Manager will also be visible in the RWL once verified by Pico

In order to access the WM feature you will need an Automotive PicoScope connected to the laptop, access to the internet and a user name and password for the Pico Auto Forum. To register for the Pico Auto Forum click on the following link ucp.php?mode=register

So, how does it work?

• Click on the “More” button in the left-hand tool panel and select “Waveform Library”
• Note: Clicking on the “Star” symbol to the left of the “Waveform Library” symbol will place the “Waveform Library” button in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select “More”
1
1
• Selecting “Waveform Library” will open the login dialog box and allow you to "Login" or “Register” if you are a first-time user
2
2
• Once logged into the RWL, 2 new options are available “Waveform Uploads” & “Waveform Manager”
3
3
• To refresh on the options listed above, the “Magnifying Glass” icon enables you to search the RWL library for any waveform uploaded by any user
• “My Waveforms” allows you to search through all the waveforms you have personally uploaded to the RWL

New options

• “Waveform Uploads” displays waveforms that are in the process of being uploaded
• “Waveform Manager” provides the tools to upload individual psdata files or folders containing psdata files (e.g. C:\Users\User Name\Documents\My Waveforms)
• Below, we will choose to upload a folder from the Desktop called “BMW X5 NON START”
4
4
• Note below: The folder above (“BMW X5 NON START”) contains not only psdata files but other file formats and other folders containing psdata files!
5
5
• The Waveform Manager will search through all folders included within “BMW X5 NON START” and import only psdata files (How cool is that?!)
6
6
• Above, the Waveform Manager has imported 38 psdata files from 3 folders in total “BMW X5 NON START”, “Day 2” & “Day 3” (Scrolling is required to view all 38 files)
• Note how editing is required before any of the files can be uploaded
7
7
• With the relevant vehicle details added, the file is ready for uploading
8
8
• Complete/Edited files are now moved to the “Waveform Uploads” section where their upload status can be viewed
9
9
• Files that exceed the maximum upload size limit are indicated to the user with a red radio button and red cross respectively (Hover over the red cross to reveal the error message)
• Below I have made 2 attempts to upload “TEST 1 DAY 2 START AND STALL AFTER 5.5 SECONDS (both failed due to file size) along with one successful upload. (TEST 4 EGR AT ENG START AND ENG OFF)

10
10
• Successfully uploaded files can now be viewed in “My Waveforms” where they will be uploaded to the RWL once verified here at Pico
11
11
• Below, the above BMW X5 waveform can now be found in the RWL by any Automotive PicoScope user once verified by Pico
12
12
As you can see from above, the bulk upload feature of the “Waveform Manager” will provide a means to remotely store waveforms with all the enhanced search and view facilities of the RWL along with all the Edit, Load and Download features

Feedback on the design and function of the “Waveform Manager” feature would be most welcome
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Safety/Training information

When logged into the RWL, “Safety & Training information” is available when clicking on the warning symbol (yellow exclamation mark) located in the bottom left-hand corner of the RWL screen

Within the Safety Information Dialog box, you can access further details to assist with Training, Self-Study, Technical Jargon and Pico documentation.

Hello and thank you for the follow up, sorry this has not been resolved to date

This bug is still ongoing as it has been difficult to replicate on a number of machines

We then discovered a device where this is reproducible 100% of the time (macOS Ventura) and so the bug is re-triaged for review

I will add your comments once again to the work flow, this will enable the software engineers to see the effects this is having on you (our customer)

Rest assured this will be resolved and I will inform you here ASAP

Take care......Steve

Hello and thank you for the post

At present, the file types we can save from PicoScope 7 are listed below
Image 1
Image 1
MATLAB (*.mat) format will be added to PS7 as ongoing development towards parity with PS6

Rest assured this will be included and I will post here ASAP when .mat is added to the software

Sorry I cannot give a time scale at present

I hope this helps, take care......Steve

Thank you once again to the software teams for their continued dedication to the development of PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access 7.0.120.14432 (inc. Pico Diagnostics 1.16.87.0) which can be downloaded here https://www.picoauto.com/downloads

New features

Persistence mode

PicoScope 7 now includes a Persistence mode feature which allows multiple waveforms to be super imposed simultaneously. Differing colours are used to represent and sperate most recent waveforms from older ones.

Such a feature provides another option for capturing glitches in repetitive signals that typically remain fixed during normal operation. (i.e., fixed duty or frequency control signals)

• Click on the “Instrument” button in the header panel and select “Persistence”
• Note: Persistence mode is currently a beta feature, you will be required to select “Yes” within the confirmation dialog box if you wish to continue
Image 1
Image 1
• Selecting “Persistence” will now allow PicoScope to place each incoming waveform on top of one another rather than filling a waveform buffer as we do when using “Scope” mode (note the absence of the waveform buffer)
• Below we have selected Persistence mode whilst using a Repeat Single Edge Trigger on channel A in order to stabilise the incoming square wave signal
Image 2
Image 2
• Below we have introduced a fault condition which has been captured and highlighted using the colour blue. The colour red is used for the most frequent data whilst less frequent data is represented successively by the colours yellow and blue
Image 3
Image 3
• Using the zoom feature below, we can see how the incoming signal has been pulled to ground. Using Scope mode, we would need to navigate through the waveform buffer to find this event (assuming it had not been over-written in the buffer)
Image 4
Image 4
Persistence controls

Persistence mode includes a number of controls and options in order to modify this capture technique to suit your application.
• Click on the Persistence lozenge to reveal the Persistence tool panel and control options; below we have the Timebase settings. (Note the maximum time base setting for Persistence mode is 20 ms/div)
Image 5
Image 5
• Click on the Persistence tab to reveal several options for how Persistence mode will function
Image 6
Image 6
• Fast: Comes with simplified display options to enable the fastest possible update rates
• Time: Uses colour intensity to indicate the age of the waveform data. The latest data is drawn at full intensity in the selected colour for that channel, with older data being represented by paler shades of the same colour
• Frequency: Uses a range of colours to indicate the frequency of waveform data. Red is used for the most frequent data, and less frequent data is represented successively by yellow and blue. N.B This is the option used in the examples above
• Below we have selected “Time” which them reveals additional controls in the form of Decay time, Saturation, Decay intensity and Line drawing
Image 7
Image 7
Decay time: The time taken for waveform data to fade from red to blue or from maximum to minimum intensity. The longer the decay time, the longer the older waveforms will remain on the screen.
Saturation: The intensity or colour with which new waveforms are drawn.
Decay intensity: The intensity or colour to which the oldest waveforms decay when the decay time expires. If the decayed intensity is zero, then older waveforms will be completely erased from the display after the decay time. For non-zero values of decayed intensity, old waveforms will remain indefinitely on the screen at that intensity unless overwritten by new ones.
Line drawing: The type of line drawn between samples that are adjacent in time:
Phosphor Joins each pair of sample points with a line whose intensity varies inversely with the slew rate
Constant Joins each pair of sample points with a line of uniform colour
Scatter Draws sample points as unconnected dots
• Below we have the Persistence settings used in the examples above which are:
Time base 5 ms/div
Persistence type “Frequency”
Saturation 50%
Decay intensity 0%
Line drawing “Phosphor”

Save Dialog changes (Windows only)

The Save menu now displays a more familiar "Browse" dialog for selecting folder location, or selecting to overwrite existing files.

• Click on Save to open the Save dialog box
• Select “Browse” to now reveal the familiar Windows save dialog box where locations and existing files can be viewed for easier and orderly storage

Reference Waveform library (RWL) improvements

Alongside PicoScope 7 Automotive software, we also have the RWL and associated Toolbox which also benefits from relentless development and improvements

• The reference waveform library can now be displayed in Dark Theme
Image 10
Image 10
Other improvements to the RWL include:

• Alert displays if closing the application while importing/uploading waveforms into the Waveform Library.
• Reference Waveform Library - Support for Wayland (Linux).
• Maximum file upload size increased from 58MB to 64MB.
• Waveform Manager accessible from the “More Tools” in PicoScope 7 application (See below)
Image 11
Image 11
More information on the Waveform Manager can be found here viewtopic.php?p=103911#p103911

Feedback on the design and function of the “RWL” & “Waveform Manager” features would be most welcome. Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

New and improved serial decoders added

• With the global commitment to renewable energy sources, PicoScope now includes a Wind sensor decoder so supporting field service engineers in some of the most remote locations
Image 12
Image 12
• In addition to the Wind sensor decoder our Standard UART decoder now supports up to 32 data bits.

Feedback on the design and function of our “Serial Decoder” features would be most welcome. Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Settings option displayed in measurement lozenge

Thanks to feedback from our customers, a “Settings” option is now clearly displayed in the measurement lozenge to indicate additional configurations are available to any displayed measurement.
Image 14
Image 14
Following on from our original measurement configuration here viewtopic.php?p=101494#p101494 the new, clearly displayed “Settings” option indicates to the user that additional functionality exists within the measurement lozenge, such as amending channels and choosing the section of the graph to be measured

Feedback on the design and function of our “Measurement” features would be most welcome. Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Bug fixes

• Fixed issue where some controls would disappear when navigating through the options panels and tabs. (Windows)
• Resolve [Ubuntu 22.04] Waveform Library app won't load
• Resolve Waveform Library fails to open in OpenSuse Tumbleweed
• Fixed several issues with Persistence capturing.
• Deep Measure - Fixed “sort order” of data in the table for Current Buffer
• Reference waveform library channel label bug fix

I hope the above helps, take care…….Steve
