Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software
Since the release of 7.0.88.9893 (Early Access) we have seen build 7.0.90.10130 (Early Access) which is currently available here https://www.picoauto.com/downloads
Regrading “New Features” with 7.0.90.10130, this was limited to Mac users only who can now install multiple versions of PS7 (See below)
“Important Installation Notice: After updating to this latest version, you will be able to install multiple PicoScope versions (e.g., Stable and Early Access) at the same time. However, you must first remove previous versions of PicoScope (i.e., drag the application to the Trash).”
7.0.91.10275 (Early Access)
The next scheduled build of PS7 (7.0.91.10275 Early Access) does not contain “New Features” at present but does have the under-pinning’s of our long awaited new “Masks” feature
These under-pinning’s will form the basis of “Masks” (with “Alarms” to follow) but for now remain inaccessible to the user. (More information on a typical application of Masks can be seen in Ben’s post here viewtopic.php?p=89171#p89171)
Like all Early Access releases, a number of bug fixes are incorporated into every build and whist it may not appear “worthy” downloading an Early Access build without “New Features”, the bug fixes within ensure continual improvement and seamless operation of PS7.
Feedback from within the software remains essential to the continual development of PS7 where each and every “feedback” item is triaged accordingly for review by the software team (See below)
Together we will continue to make PS7 the desired software for the diagnostic journey today and tomorrow
Take care…….Steve

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software
I can remember those tiny screens and often wonder how things would be if we could take the PicoScope and monitors of today back to 1983 to see how they would be received by the technical Gurus of that era.
Can you imagine?
Take care.....Steve

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software
PS7 Early Access version 7.0.96.11036 was released on Tuesday 12th April 2022 but very lean on user facing features, however………
Thank you once again to the software teams for their continued dedication to the development of PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access which can be downloaded here https://www.picoauto.com/downloads
PS7 Auto Early Access 7.0.97.11111 will be scheduled for release WC 25/04/22
New features
PS7 is now a 64-bit application (Previously 32-bit bundled with 64-bit software)
PicoScope 7 is now running as a 64-bit application. This comes with improved stability when handling larger datasets, particularly in streaming mode. Being a 64-bit application now enables Pico to improve an array of settings relating to FFTs, Deep measure, Serial decoding & Streaming modes in the future
PLEASE NOTE: Version 7.0.97.11111 EA will not overwrite your existing PicoScope Early Access, and therefore you will have to manually uninstall the previous version to remove it from your system.
Actions (beta)
The new “Actions” feature allows you to automatically run through a selection of actions after specific events occur, such as stopping the scope when you hit the buffer limit. Actions were previously known as Alarms with PicoScope 6 Automotive software and they work beautifully in conjunction with the soon to be released “Mask” tool.
This feature is still under development and more options will be added very soon, however, we'd love to receive your initial feedback about this feature in the meantime!
• Click on the “More” button in the left-hand tool panel to reveal all the available options for PicoScope 7 Early Access
• Click on the “Actions” symbol to reveal the Actions panel.
• A confirmation dialog box will appear informing the “Actions” feature is in beta format, select “Yes” to continue
• Note: Clicking on the “Star” symbol to the left of the “Actions” symbol will place the “Actions” button in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select More
• Below we have the current default Actions tool panel revealing the options to Delete, Name, Change event, and Add the desired “Action
• Below we have opted to simply “Add” the “Action” “Stop capture” to the above default tool panel which means when the scope is run, it will stop when the “Event” buffers full (“On buffer full”) is achieved
• Below we have opted to change the “Event” to “On capture” but retain the “Stop Capture” “Action” when our capture is complete (single buffer). This works particularly well for longer captures (e.g., Parasitic drain) where we do not want the scope to collect a second buffer
• Given the “Action” feature is at the beta stage of development we have only 2 “Actions” to choose from “Stop capture” and “Restart capture” (See below)
• Note above, as development continues, you will be able to include multiple “Actions” for one “Event”.
• You may choose “On capture” as your event and your “Action” to include “Stop Capture”, “Play a tune”, “Save capture” and finally “Restart capture” (Something for everyone)
• N.B. Files saved with “Actions” applied can be reopened with the identical “Actions” loaded accordingly (i.e., no need to reconfigure your “Actions”)
Feedback on the design and function of the beta “Actions” feature would be most welcome

Bug fixes
• Improved handling of Crank math channels
• Improve Reference Waveform Library (RWL) functionality with OpenSuse
• Improve loading speed of channel lozenges
• Improve performance of “Device Connect” and File loading
• Omit results from “Filter count” where no waveforms exist in the RWL
• Improve charging current calculation within the PicoDiagnostics Battery test for modern charging systems
• Improve functionally of PicoScope 4823 with NVH during license detection
• Resolve instability with NVH exporting to Pddata format
I hope this helps, take care….Steve

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software
PS7 Auto Early Access 7.0.98.11195 is ready for downloading and includes the following:
New features
Enable/Disable “Action” control
Following on from our previous release posted above, we focused on “Actions” where we have now included an “Actions” Enable/Disable control
• Click on the “More” button in the left-hand tool panel to reveal all the available options for PicoScope 7
• Click on the “Actions” symbol to reveal the Actions panel.
• A confirmation dialog box will appear informing the “Actions” feature is in beta format, select “Yes” to continue
• Note: Clicking on the “Star” symbol to the left of the “Actions” symbol will place the “Actions” button in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select “More”
• Below we have the current default Actions tool panel revealing the new options Enable (turn on) or Disable (turn off) the desired “Action” settings
• The above feature will enable the creation of “Action” settings but now with the option to Disable until required
"Save" option for “Actions”
• With the “Action” control panel open, click on “Add” and note we now have the option to “Save”
• N.B. when selecting “Save” a confirmation dialog box will appear warning the user that there is no limit to the number of files that will be saved as a result of this chosen “Action”
• Please be aware that auto saving files has the potential to consume the “Drive” to which files are saved
• Selecting “Yes” in the confirmation dialog box above will allow you to specify the “Save” location of files that meet the desired “Action” settings
• Click on “Save as” to Name, choose the file format (e.g., psdata) and select the destination of the file to be saved once all “Action” settings have been configured
• Below I have configured my “Action” options as follows:
Named the Action “My capture”
Chosen the Event “On capture”
Included more “Action” criteria by selecting “Add” where PicoScope will now “Stop capture” and automatically “Save” the file in psdata format to my Desktop
• Above is an example where using “Actions” in conjunction with a “Repeat Trigger” will allow for hands-free operation. Here the scope will wait for the voltage to increase above 40 mV which activates the “Trigger”, whilst “Actions” takes care of stopping the capture and saving the all-important data
Feedback on the design and function of the beta “Actions” feature would be most welcome

Bug fixes
• Channel D “Demo” crankshaft sensor signal has changed from an inductive sensor to a Hall Effect sensor switching from 0 V to 5 V with 60-2 teeth denoting one engine revolution (360°)
Note: The new “Demo” crankshaft sensor signal utilizes missing teeth (engine position reference signal) every 180° degrees of crankshaft rotation
• General improvements to UI Text, Fonts and Spacings
I hope this helps, take care….Steve

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software
PS7 Auto Early Access 7.0.100.11389 is ready for downloading and includes the following:
New features
Additional “Action” features
Following on from our previous posts above, we focus again on “Actions” where we now include the options to:
• Choose to save All waveforms or Current waveform when “Saving” is one of the desired “Actions”
• Add a “Beep” to indicate to the user the desired “Event” conditions have been met
• For those lucky enough to own a 4823, the Signal Generator can now be triggered so enabling the output of any signal configured within the Sig Gen menu
In the example below we have opted to use a combination of the “Action” features to trigger the Signal Generator.
• The scope is set to capture a rising edge at 20 mV using a repeat trigger on channel A
• When the above trigger is fired, the Event condition “On capture” will have been met
• Upon capture, the PC/Laptop will Bleep and the file (named “Test 1”) will be Saved to the desired location
• The scope will then Restart capture and Trigger the Signal Generator
• Please note, to trigger the signal generator using the “Action” feature, the Sig Gen & accompanying Trigger must be enabled and the trigger source set to “Manual”
• The following error message will appear if the above settings are configured incorrectly
• Below we have the Signal Generator configuration used to obtain the capture in Image 4
Feedback on the design and function of the beta “Actions” feature would be most welcome
