PicoScope 7 version 7.0.73.8350 (scheduled release date 25-05-21)

J1939 Serial decoder

Many thanks again to Ben Martins for his relentless hard work in developing the J1939 serial decoder. More information can be found here topic22615.html?

• Improved operation of Spectrum control button when increasing or decreasing the desired frequency
• Improvements to the design of the measurement icons in Spectrum mode
• Improved launching of PicoScope 7 on all platforms across all devices and demo mode
• Improved handling of filtering math channels in Spectrum mode
• Improved update of displayed measurements in Spectrum mode when amending Spectrum Peak Span (bins)

I hope this helps, take care......Steve

A comment about the latest PicoScope 7 version 7.0.73.8350 which I have tested today, where I have used the function serial decoding of a canbus signal.

I mean - that this feature has become significantly more stable than previous versions and in my own little canbus test there was no dropout on the signal.

I can only say that I am extremely satisfied with Picoscope 7 and what the Pico team has achieved so far - keep up the good work.

Kim

Hi all on about page 5 of this thread
New features added to PicoDiagnostics NVH

Downloading PicoScope 7 version 7.0.69.7912 will now include PicoDiagnostics (PD) software version 1.16.0.5818
PD Version 1.16.0.5818 does not replace your existing PicoDiagnostics version 1.16.0.5247 which is downloaded with the current generic version of PicoScope 6 Automotive (6.14.25.5247).
Both these versions of PicoDiagnostics (1.16.0.5818 & 1.16.0.5247) will be installed on your PC if you have/use PS6
N.B Your existing Desktop icon for PicoDiagnostics will however launch the new version of PD (1.16.0.5818)
did this ever happen? and if so how do I access PicoDiagnostics NVH via Pico7??

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Hello and thank you for the post

PicoDiagnostics (PD) is most certainly present with all builds from and including 7.0.69.7912

The current PD version available with PS7 is 1.16.0.5818 and this is bundled with 7.0.75 here https://oem.picoauto.com/p7beta/download

The PD desktop Icon is identical to previous PD Icons and so it may not be immediately apparent the PD you have selected is indeed the new version bundled with PS7 (It should add another PD Icon)

To launch PD bundled with PS7 could you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Pico Technology\PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access\PicoDiagnostics

Here you can launch PD or create a Desktop shortcut if required (See image below)

Thank you once again to the software teams for their continued dedication to the development of PicoScope 7 Automotive which can be downloaded here https://oem.picoauto.com/p7beta/download

PicoScope 7 Early Access version 7.0.76.8713 (Release date week commencing July 5th 2021)

New features

PicoScope 7 Early Access

The latest version of PicoScope 7 Automotive will replace your existing PicoScope 7 Automotive Beta with a build called “Early Access”
Image 1
Image 1
• Consider “Early Access” as a direct replacement for Beta versions going forward
• All existing math channels, custom probes, preferences and reference waveforms etc. will be carried across from your existing Beta to Early Access
• Going forward, PicoScope 7 Early Access will provide exactly that; early access to new features and bug fixes etc.
• When PicoScope 7 Automotive Stable is released, this will sit alongside PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access across all platforms (you will have 2 versions of PS7)
• When PicoScope 7 Automotive Stable is released, this will be an entirely new installation without any math channels, custom probes, preferences or reference waveforms etc. carried across from PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access

Feedback on the new version of PicoScope 7 Automotive Early Access would be most welcome.
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Channel arrangement (bring to front)

There are numerous times where complex signals captured on multiple channels can obscure one another during analysis. Our new “Bring to front” feature now enables visibility of all channels regardless of complexity or graph space

• The image below is one such example where channel B is obscured by channel A
Image 2
Image 2
• Click on or adjust the relevant channel axis to “bring to front”
• Below channel B is now visible in front of channel A
Image 3
Image 3
Feedback on the design and functionality of “bring to front” would be most welcome.
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Bug Fixes

• Improvements to the stability and functionality of probe mismatch across all platforms
• Improved handling of channel display when using auto arrange axis or “reset”
• Spectrum mode handling of math channels now improved to prevent halting of captures
• Improved functionally of custom entries into vehicle details “SaveLightbox” with Mac
• Reference waveform delay control now hidden when Spectrum viewport selected
• Print sizing now correct to reflect the current graph view in both Portrait and Landscape views

I hope this helps, take care…….Steve

• The channel lozenge includes a summary of the features applied to the active channel
• These features include: Name, Coupling mode, Probe, Filtering, DSP, Offset & Inversion
• PicoScope 7 will now include Resolution Enhance details in addition to the above options
• Below we have a 4823 connected to PicoScope 7 Automotive with channel A displaying:
Name (A. Crank) See viewtopic.php?p=100903#p100903
AC Coupled
x1 Probe
12 + 2 (Resolution Enhance to 14 bit [12+2])
555 µV (DC Offset)
Image 1
Image 1
Feedback on the functionality and display features of the channel lozenge would be most welcome.
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Bug Fixes

• Improved loading of files with respect to displaying time per division rather than total time
• Improved display of measurement value statistics
• Update speed of logarithmic units in Spectrum mode now improved
• Improved handling of files containing math channels during loading and selection

Important note for installation of PicoScope 7 Automotive 7.0.77 Early Access (Windows version)

• A 64-bit version of the Windows operating system is required for installation of PicoScope 7 Automotive 7.0.77 Early Access and later versions
• The software will not install or run on 32-bit Windows systems as some components now require 64-bit support
• 32-bit users can continue to use PicoScope 6 Automotive or be limited to PicoScope 7 version 7.0.75.
• PicoScope 7 will eventually be delivered as a full 64-bit application

I hope this helps, take care…….Steve
