PS7 Auto Early Access 7.0.108.12447 is scheduled for downloading on the 13th September 2022

New features

Deep Measure BETA
Deep Measure provides a means to further analyse repetitive signals so as to reveal the intricacies of individual cyclic events when deeper (more detailed) analysis is required

The following forum post topic17711.html describes the operation and application of Deep Measure within PicoScope 6 which will eventually be replicated and improved upon in PicoScope 7

• Click on the “More” button in the left-hand tool panel and select “DeepMeasure”
• Note: Clicking on the “Star” symbol to the left of the “DeepMeasure” symbol will place the “DeepMeasure” button in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select “More”
• Given this is the first BETA iteration of “DeepMeasure”, confirmation of acceptance will be required to utilise this feature (See image below)
Image 1
Image 1
• Confirmation of acceptance of the BETA “DeepMeasure” (select “Yes”) will reveal the “DeepMeasure” control panel
• The “DeepMeasure” control panel allows the user to cycle this feature On/Off and Delete if required
• Here we can also “Name”, choose the relevant channel, specify Thresholds and Hysteresis values whilst also choosing to amend the “Rise/Fall Time Threshold” setting and “DeepMeasure” between Time rulers (See below)
Image 2
Image 2
• Below we have chosen to activate “DeepMeasure” on channel A and name the measurement “Crank Signal”
• Note how the Threshold and Hysteresis values have been set by PicoScope automatically with a Rise/Fall Time Threshold of 10/90 and “Between time rulers” is set to On

Image 3
Image 3
• As can be seen above, PicoScope has presented the “DeepMeasure” table for review by the user (Current buffer only) where each individual cycle of our signal (between the time rulers) has been analysed and the appropriate value displayed accordingly
• “DeepMeasure” data can be reviewed in 3rd party software such as Excel by clicking on the Export button within the decode table where the contents are exported in .csv format
• Below we have exported the “DeepMeasure” data above and graphed the Frequency of the signal using values displayed in column C

Image 4
Image 4
• Note the sudden drop in frequency of the line graph above denotes the rapid change in frequency attributed to the missing tooth of the crank pick up ring (one event between our time rulers)
• Please note, more features of “DeepMeasure” will follow in future PS7 updates

Feedback on the design and function of the beta “DeepMeasure” feature would be most welcome
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Help
• Click on the “More” button in the left-hand tool panel and select “Help”
• Note: Clicking on the “Star” symbol to the left of the “Help” symbol will place the “Help” button in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select “More”
Image 5
Image 5

• Clicking on the “Help” button will now link users directly to our A to Z of PicoScope which can also be found here https://www.picoauto.com/library/picoscope-in-depth

XY graph display at 1:1 aspect ratio

Further to the introduction of our XY View described here viewtopic.php?p=103445#p103445 the addition of XY view ports will now be displayed at 1:1 aspect ratio (square) by default. This will help with analysis of 3 phase motor current where equal X & Y axes are paramount when evaluating winding and rotor performance ( Please see Ben’s forum post here topic22592.html )

Below we have multiple X Y views of varying sizes but all retain their 1:1 aspect ratio for ease of analysis
Image 7
Image 7
Feedback on the design and function of the new XY viewport feature would be most welcome
Click on More > Send Feedback within the software

Bug fixes (Early access versions 107 & 108)

Bug fixes
• Resolve data can stop capturing when using specific time-bases and sample rates.
• Resolve (Windows)GPUCache folder created occasionally when starting PS7.
• Changes to notes in Waveform Library do not appear when a file is loaded in PS7.
• Crank Math Channel sets SI prefixes to 'on' for RPM by default.

Hello and thank you for the post

There are no immediate plans for Pico Diagnostics to be included for MAC

The focus at present is Guided Tests for Mac and then hopefully Pico Diagnostics

Could I ask, which feature of Pico Diagnostics are you most likely to use/require?

E.g. Battery test, NVH, Relative compression etc.

Take care.....Steve

Can we get an option to divide down to 30 degrees, I can't put more than 12 partitions?
Second, can we get the rulers time stamp at the top or bottom at choice? Now it covers the phase rulers degrees.

Hello Liviu, thank you for the feedback and New Feature Request

Both of these suggestions have been logged with the software team

Could I ask about the Time Ruler handle request?

You mention they cover the Phase ruler degrees; the value of the current position of the time ruler includes both "Time" and "Degrees" within the ruler handle

Does this help or do you have a concern whereby the X axis "degree" graticule is obscured by the time ruler handles

Once again, thank you for the feedback and New Feature Requests

Take care.....Steve
