Custom Probes

Post by FioranoCars »

Hi
Just making some custom probe settings and when at home using the demo device, rather than plugged into the scope, the ranges are limited to the 4000 series, so no 20mv scale! Is it possible to be able to either select the demo device (ie a 3000series or 4000 series) or have access to the full range of options in the custom probe menu?

Also, as I don't have a 4000 series (waiting for the 5000 series or what ever comes next!) what will happen if the custom probe has a range selected that is not available on the device - ie 20mv on a 4000 series, or indeed 100v on a 3000series ?

If using a Pico template that needs and uses the 100v scale, are 3000 series owners warned that a 20:1 attenuator is or might be needed ? There is a high risks a novice user could blindly blow the scope??

thanks

Forgot to add ...
Is it possible to include the functionality of the maths channel to the custom probes?

I know lots can be done within the current 2 fields, but the extra functionality would be good ...

and finally...

The Maths channel export function does not offer a default name like the custom probes export does, having the title (cleaned of invalid chrs) as the default save name would be very handy.

Also the ability to multi-select items to export (it is only XML, so the file format could support it), so a collection of probes can be exported.

thanks

Using Beta v6.7.13.3

Ok, I missed the drop down menu of device types ... sadly selecting them makes no difference at all (so can't get the 20mv range for the 3423).
There are 2 "Demo" devices, maybe they could have a better description? Or is this a duplication

Also once the default demo device is selected (by Pico, as the user can't) it cannot be changed? Is there only 1 demo device, or does the inclusion of 2 in the custom probes list mean that more than one is available? if so, can the provision for the user to select them be available?

thanks!
