automatic battery setup

Post by antthecat » Mon Jan 14, 2013 12:55 pm

just a idea, could a database be programmed into pico diagnostics battery test so when you have a battery type "063" or "075" it automatically sets up the cca and Ah figures, these can be found in any battery book and i would have thought they would be a good idea as some batteries dont state on the sticker Ah or cca but usually have the type number.

That's a great Idea, but I'm not sure all manufacturers end up with the exact same battery spec (in terms of output) for the short codes, we use lots of 069 and find differences between vendors actual spec. The short code is pretty fixed in terms of physical dimensions and terminal style/layout, it's only the CCA and Ah that seem to vary slightly.

It would give a rough (and probably close enough) set of figures, and provided they could be over-ridden manually to fixed and differences then it would save time 90% of uses. So would be a big help, especially when all you see is the basic number, or if you know that a car has a particular battery type.

Hope that help!
