Yes. That's an excess dwell coil driver so it has a current limiting feature. This also accounts for the primary voltage drop you were concerned about.
Thanks Tom, i'm aware of the current limiting primary voltage drop, it was the curve part of the coil current ramp at the top where normally it would be a straight line until it's collapsed that got me, & this also made me question whether it was actually current limiting or unwanted resistance somewhere.
