Hi all. I tested a Buick 3.0 secondary ignition waveform and found that there should be a faulty. The "burn time " line have noisy. And the line won't drop to 0 after "burn time". Can somebody tell me what cause these ?
Many thanks.
Eric
What type of ignition system does it have ?
Ive never had any luck testing secondary ignition, Ive never seen a waveform look like it's supposed to look

it's DIS. One coil for two cylinders. Four cylinders.
I am no expert on ignition but that looks OK to me.
A bit of noise on the firing line is not unusual - its possibly caused by ionisation effects?
The signal can also take a while to drop back to zero - when the voltage drops below a few kV the spark stops but there is still some voltage present which will "leak away" over time. I have zoomed in on your waveform to show this. As the voltage was zero before the ignition event its pretty safe to assume it will be back to zero before the next one.
