Mondeo MK3 Duratec HE 1.8 injector ?

Postby Robski » Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:55 pm

Hi All

I am just wondering what the 'spike' is on the attached injector trace is,if it was noise then surely it would be all over the trace ??

The 'spike' is to the right of the trace after the injector closes, goes without saying really :D

I cannot say i have noticed this before in an injector trace but i could have over looked it,but ive also never had the pico before !

Thanks for looking & look forward to any replies.

Rob.

Robski,

You have overkill on your sample rate sampling every 50 billionths of a second. So, you will get every bit of noise. That spike looks like a bit of ignition RFI to me.

With more events on the screen, you would probably see more of them at regular intervals. You can confirm the source by dial tracing the ignition to see if it matches up.

Autonerdz

thanks for the reply, how does one turn the sampling rate down ?

I am going to capture a full rotation of the camshaft to see if these are in the same place.

Thanks

Robski,

You adjust the requested number of samples in the top control bar to the right of the horizontal zoom control. Then monitor the effect in the properties tab info on the right.

Think of the number of samples control like the gas pedal and the properties tab the speedometer. Many things can affect the actual sample rate result. Capture time, number of channels, slow sampling transition point, hardware, etc. So just keep an eye on the speedometer for the desired effect until you get used to how she handles. 8)
