Picoscope command line options on Win Vista or Win 7?

Postby Jim Davis » Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:35 pm

Hi,
I have been using Win XP and have successfully used the command line option /c to edit .psdata files.
I have tried to use the command line in Win Vista and picoscope.exe crashes.
I wrote a batch file that works fine on XP, crashes on Vista (even when I set the compatibility to XP mode).
A friend tested it on Win 7 and it crashed there too.

Is there a work around for this?
Is there another was to select a range of frames in a .psdata file?

Thanks Jim

I am using:
PicoScope® 6 - PC Oscilloscope software version: 6.2.14.0

On Win XP I can use on the command line:
Picoscope /c filename.psdata /f psdata /q /b begin:end
or:
Picoscope /?

The directions are found in the Picoscope GUI at Help --> Index --> .psdata/converting
than select commandline syntax.

On Win Vista: Picoscope /? fails
I'm told Win 7 fails too.

The converting in explorer only converts the entire file.
Converting from the command prompt in Win XP adds the option of selecting a range of frames to convert.

Would you like to see the batch file?

Hi Jim,

I tried this on 2 Vista 32 bit machines and it seems to work fine. Are these 32/64 bit OSs? Could you send your .bat file but you will have to rename it as a text.

Kind regards

Hi Jim,

This is strange as I have tried this on a Vista computer at work and it seems to work fine. Few questions:

How big was your file?
How many buffers
What device are you using?

Kind regards

I found the Problem
Turns out I had both "Picoscope6" and "Picoscop6 Automotive" installed on the Win Vista PC.

The PATH in the command prompt environment was sending the command arguments to the Picoscope.exe in the Picoscope6 sub-directory first and it returned the errors and crashed.

I uninstalled the Non Automotive version and the Command Line works now. :)

Thank you for your time and trouble.
