hi i am not sure how to get the best results from this bit of kit.
how to set up , ie do i just use 1 channel ?.
no trigger sorce,can anyone help thanks

Hi David

Use the Automotive preset for ignition, secondary, plug lead to get you started. The thing about pencil coils is that the field strength varys a bit from type to type. This is one reason we didn't do a preset for this probe but we may revise this before long as we get data on a few more coil types.
If no joy with the above preset, remember the probe will be picking up approx 100-200mV so set the DC scale to +/- 200mV or thereabouts. You can set a trigger to stabilise the waveform. At idle, 1mS/div should give a detailed picture of a single full ignition waveform. 20mS/div will show hopefully 2 events i.e a full engine cycle taking approx 160mS on a 4 cylinder.
