Peugeot 308 diesel

Post by Technician »

Engine did initially smoke from startup as the engine warmed up, getting worse as the engine further warmed up. The smoke was quite bad. The customer took the car away and has now returned with it, The exhaust still smokes a little, but nowhere near as bad as previously. The exhaust emission (0.51) can't be achieved. From memory the metered check was 3.0 or more. A scan for codes found an air intake temperature fault, where a new mass air flow meter didn't cure the fault. Live data shows the injectors ms are reading between 80 and 255, fixed. I've read on the forums that one guy thought this ms display fault was caused by something on the HP fuel pump! I'll assume that the sensor he was referring to was some type of volume control?

Anyone got experience with this type of fault?

Does it have a MAPT sensor - So it gets it's intake air temp at the manifold downstream of the turbo?
Otherwise sticky VNT or rail pressure regulation so it is overfueling, or a boost leak - MAP vs desired MAP should point you in that direction.
Take a look at the live data and see what stands out as wrong!
