TT problem solved..... As we suspected an issue on the ex side, we progressed to remove the valve cover and examine the lifters, rockers and camshaft and to see if any oil pressure blockages. all checked out ok except for the camshaft, Although no visible damage we fortunately had an old exhaust cam from another engine in stock. put them together and what do we see.. cam lobes out of sync when matching them up at similar points. put in the used replacment cam and boom vehicle started up and running perfect. Dont ask me how the lobes got out of position as this car was sent to us from another garage who had rebuilt the engine. And now as Im examining the wave form, trying to correlate the positions of the exhaust valve opening and closing to make sense of what i see. Very interesting.
Thank you guys for the input and thank Pico for pointing me in the right direction, I would have been going bonkers trying to find a starting point for this case.
