acer one 10 2 in 1 laptop/tablet-3 channels very slow.. how much power do i need?

Post by Hakim-autofixpal »

So i have used my pico with an old acer one 10 2 in 1 that i had laying around and it works just fine with 1 channel. But as soon as i add 2 or 3 channels use to it. The laptop slows to a very slow and annoying to use POS.. I found a Dell to replace it with good specs (not sure how PICO feels about sharing links so i wont post the link) listed below. Do you guys think thats overkill or would i be able to do fine with a used toughbook, like a cf19 or cf31 and just upgrade the RAM and harddrive. I would prefer something rugged, but rugged and fast is outside my budget. The dell is good at $570. But i can get a used toughbook for about 200, just not sure if pico will perform well using all 4 channels at the same time on a cf19 or cf31. What are your thoughts?

I’m using toughbook cf-31 touchscreen, ssd, 4gb ram and it flies with 4 channels and gm mdi2 on diagnostics over usb-wifi.
If you csn, get one with usb3.0, but more expensive indeed.

Are you guys using USB2 or USB3 and do you notice a difference. I went ahead and purchased the Dell that i mentioned. Works soooo Much better. I have a USB2 cable on it now. was wondering if there is even a noticable difference with USB3 or any real benefit.

Hakim,

I run an older Dell Latitude for daily work diag with USB 2.0 and a 4425, it works very well for 90% of what I do, even on 4 channels as long as I don't have my sample rate up too high.

I also run an Acer Aspire that's a few years old and run the 4425 through the USB 3.0, it seems to handle 4 channels a lot better and doesnt seem to glitch as often.

Any thoughts on using an Acer Spin 1 2-in-1 with a picoscope?

Pentium N4200 quad core 1.1 (2.5 GHz burst frequency)
4GB RAM
64GB storage
1920x1080 screen resolution
USB 3.0
USB 2.0
Windows 10 S

Would this be fast enough to run Picoscope 6 with a 2 channel regular scope (probably a 2206B model #) or the two channel Pico Auto scope 4225?
