Hi Christiaan

It looks like you have set your time base settings to micro seconds [us], can you do the waveform again but set your time base in milli seconds [ms]. Try setting the scope KV at something like 20 + and the time base at 5 ms or more, redo the scope trace and see if you can achieve a full ignition cycle. A good ignition waveform should fill the scope screen area.

See example;

Christiaan

That scope trace is not what one would expect.

What is the issue with the car - Fault codes, symptoms etc. would be a big help.

Hi .
This is a 1.3 carberator so there are no fault codes.
The only problem is the fuel consumption is high and sometimes it takes about 5 seconds of cranking before it starts.
There is ni misfiring and once it starts it runs smoothly.

Hi Christiaan,

The ignition waveform is not performing at all well, see my previous example of what they normally look like. It may also be advantageous to have a four gas analysis completed if there is no CAT fitted. The results should help to lead you in the correct direction.

Hi Technician
There is no CAT Fitted.
I will set the time base on the scope as suggested and do a retest when I am back at the vehicle.
