Fiat Punto 1.2 188A4000 2003

Post by hailoffame »

Hi All,
I had a quick look at this vehicle which will start but wont rev . It unfortunately comes with loads of history as been in a garage for 3 weeks trying without success to find the problem.
My main question in trying to check the timing belt,I thought that with the missing teeth on the crank sensor wheel against the sensor it should be at tdc on no1 cylinder? well its not its way out but if so why will the engine start reasonably easy?

Hi Rob,
The only dtc is p0135 which I cant see being relevent as the engine is the same cold?
I agree the ckp v cmp is the way to go, but what am I looking for? misalignment getting worse as the trace progresses?
As for previous difficult as its in France and the garage here have tried , but me talking to them is hard!
Thanks mike

Hi thanks for the reply,
This vehicle has not been seen by me for several weeks! I am not sure what the crank pos sensor relearn Robski mentions is ? I have not had the scope that long but am willing to put it to use whenever possible.
My original query related to the missing teeth on the pulley, when aligned with the sensor did not correspond with TDC on number 1 or 4 cylinders?
regards Mike

As far as I know the CKP relearn procedure is accomplished via Scan tool special function procedure

I hope this will help

Kind regards
