Resistance Measurement

Post by swissmister » Sat Jun 28, 2014 1:47 pm

Hello
can the PicoScope software be configured to make resistance measurement in a fashion the TiePiescope does?

Hello Swissmister and thank you for the feedback. Interesting point you have raised regrading resistance measurement and how we choose to evaluate resistance.

One option would be a resistance measurement feature but we know the pitfalls of measuring resistance without load. (I have spent hours chasing my tail assuming continuity existed to find the circuit was failing under load)

Using the scope to measure voltage and current not only takes care of resistance when we apply ohms law, but also includes the circuit and terminations giving the user the complete picture.

I can see the relevance when we choose to measure component resistance under varying temperatures (removed from the circuit) and will add the suggestion into our "ideas funnel" as all feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks again for the post, take care......Steve
