Dancing Dizzy King Lead waveform - Help!

These 2 captures are both from the same vehicle, a few weeks apart, pre and post Dizzy rebuild. Excuse the channel limit displaying at 10kv, but fixing that was not as important as stabilising the signal ... I have moved the earth location a few times, engine block, chassis and finally battery termi...

Re: Fiesta 2003 1.3 Misfire on Cyl#1

Been doing a bit of work on dwell for another beast, the Mercedes 1974 450SLC but I'll update that separately later, anyway something that I could/should have considered was the energy of this new coil, which using primary measurement will hopefully allow some further facet to be established, or not...

Re: Fiesta 2003 1.3 Misfire on Cyl#1

Hi STC all you say is very true, but I was just band-aid helping. The coil replacement removed the mis-fire, so even if not fully root cause, was a contribution factor (root cause if different i'll never know  ) The single misfire (#1) being worse than it's pair (#4) could be possible due to m...

Re: Fiesta 2003 1.3 Misfire on Cyl#1

1. The old faulty coil has equal current for both pairs, matched dwell times too, The new coil has varying differences, but at their most extreme at idle 6amps verse 10+amps between pairs, and dwell time drops from 4+ms (1&4) to <3.2ms for the lesser charging pair (2&3) The only thing changed was t...

Re: Firstlook sensor to measure timing.

Hi again Totally cool, sounds like you've put some thought in, so go for it and share/discuss the results here, that's the whole point of the forum. I was going to use the Firstlook as an extra aid to WPS style in-cylinder within the inlet and exhaust to study pressure waves, not helping here, but t...

Re: Little bit of help to understand coil signal??? negative

Hi Debbie Maybe I'm a little late to the party, but missed this till now. All the Dino's we've had have been twin points, so sadly no direct experience of you single setup, but have a seen quite a few of these over the last 20years! One thing that comes to mind is "bounce" of the points? have they b...

Re: Firstlook sensor to measure timing.

Hi I've not used mine for timing checks, but on youtube there are quite a few videos around that area, but as I have a pressure transducer not followed it up, try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzvLrAo1YVM there are others, maybe search for piezo pressure transducer too. If you get anywhere, please...

Fiesta 2003 1.3 Misfire on Cyl#1

Hi all, penance time for posting Friday off-topic rubbish (more answers and catch phrases still needed though! :D ) Anyway, there is a point for discussion within this tale, so feel free to skip to the end and then jump in with your thoughts ... I was at the MOT station and one of their apprentices ...

Re: Waveform Library Reform

I second/third the issue of having a scope connected to access it for both upload and downloading, maybe a token that once authenticated with scope attached allows your username access for 3-6 months or longer, so that each time you do browse with a scope the token is reset, so 98% of the time you n...
