Re: AuthorMike - Ford Focus Mk1 – 2000 X reg

Hi Mike, Re MK1 Focus, what you do have to watch on these which I've had a few times, is the 6pin block connector getting hot and giving trouble. In fairness the pumps probably knackered. I'll give you the info for the 6pin block connector on the fuel tank. PIN 1(1mm wire size) Green/Orange wire 'fe...

Re: Jaguar XF Unable to Select Gears

Hi Mike, Thanks for the post! Out of interest did this vehicle not also log a fault code in the engine ECU/PCM to the effect that the transmission was offline? The other interesting point is that you have approx five volts on the red trace which you describe as a permanent feed, I take it that this ...

Re: BMW E36 M3 Alternator

Hi Martin, I'm quite sure you've already done it, have you checked the condition and tightness of the earth strap from engine/gearbox to body/chassis. If you have and it's perfect go back to the alternator B+ output terminal and follow it to the starter motor check that it's tight and in perfect con...

Re: BMW E36 M3 Alternator

Hi Martin, Thanks for the info back! The waveform that you posted could you tell us where the test point was made and under what conditions, for example was the engine idling or under hard acceleration, another interesting point is some of the earlier alternators fitted to some BMW cars were rubber ...

Re: BMW E36 M3 Alternator

First of all welcome Martin! I'm quite sure that part of the regs for racing is that you have to have a master cut-out switch! I don't know whether this is the setup that you are using. If this is what you are using, then you have to use a resistor to prevent damage to the alternator, because what h...

Re: Fiat 1.6 2001 primary.

I'm glad to hear that hbr. It's always good when you get feedback, it lets you know whether your still thinking along the right tracks! Oh by the way, one good reason why you should never use the alignment tools to hold the mechanical parts, whilst you undo and tighten bolts, there's a lesson if the...
