Re: VW Golf 2005 - PD BKD Engine

This throws a Manifold / Boost Pressure Sensor Signal Implausible fault at Ignition on . Won't Clear. Engine not running I see 1306mB in measured values against 1020 mB atmospheric and desired. The Fault Code is accurate and Validated. Bosch ESi (this is a Bosch ECU and Component) specifies MAP Vol...

Re: VW Golf 2005 - PD BKD Engine

Dial it to match atmospheric and the Fault Clears.
And at what voltage was that?

Re: Opel Corsa C Z14XE doubts about ignition primary signal

I do notice that cyl. 3 burn time is somehow smaller than rest of the cylinders. Also burn voltage 1-1.5 kV higher. That will go hand in hand. There are all these examples of bits of string and coil energy all over the net to demonstrate that. Try playing around with the plug gap and watch burn tim...

Re: Flow Meter

IIRC TiePie do one. But before you go rushing out to buy one check the details.............Carefully

They, TiePie, have nice idea's and some very good ones but their scopes seriously lack power....... TiePie for show. Pico for a pro.

So what can we use XY mode for? Any automotive examples?

Re: Individual cylinder valve timing errors

The same two cylinders now idling - badly. The most immediate things that are noticeable is the increase in pressure in cylinder one and the loss in cylinder two. I believe this to be attributed to reduced leak down time and reduced filing time. Fixed with a new cam and other worn valve components r...

Re: Individual cylinder valve timing errors

This is one of my favorite wave-forms (Diesel light vehicle). One of the reasons' is because it shows a major pitfall of carrying out a traditional comp test. This would pass. Yet in reality it's a big 'F' for fail. Anyway. But in this example (Cranking) there is no rise in compression from an worn ...

I was thinking of the nose/peak of the cam being worn only. But in the real world that's pretty unlikely.

Re: Individual cylinder valve timing errors

Hi FF Your assumption regarding the engine drawing on a closed throttle may not be the case. Some engines, during cranking, hold the idle air control valve wide open, thus the incoming air flow circumnavigates the closed throttle via the idle air 'loop'. Cheers James. Hi That is correct. But in the...

Re: Individual cylinder valve timing errors

Still playing 'Devils advocate' here. :) Re "Cylinder 2 excessive intake valve clearance (Channel B Magenta)" I'm not convinced about the reasoning behind “Why is the compression higher on cylinder 2 with excessive valve clearance?” And the theory "I originally thought that the compressions may have...
