Re: Differential rail pressure sensor for Common Rail system

Has anyone tried the Sealey TL95 Timing Light Diesel Converter Box on Diesel Common Rail Systems connected to a scope with a view to analyse what is going on within the injector ? That clamp should be no different than the one I have used above. It will be a surprise if it is... If that is the case...

Re: VW Golf4 BCB not start

I believe you are right victor. I found myself in the past counting for crank pulses after TDC mark, to be more sure about timing events and angle, not trusting the rulers. The picoscope software rulers are a good tool, but we need to remember that the angle shown has the assumption that the engine ...

Re: Audi A3 2011 2.0 TDI (8P1-CFGB) Crank no start, no DTC c

If the exhaust valves on cylinders number 2 and 4 never open, you end up with the same current pattern, because cylinder 4 and 2 are producing 2 compression events per 720 degrees. You could validate this in many ways. In cylinder cranking pressure waveform for cylinder 4 (and 2) should produce two ...

Re: Audi A3 2011 2.0 TDI (8P1-CFGB) Crank no start, no DTC c

... What sort of fuel pressure for this car, not looked, but assume we can measure at the rail (if not suggestions where to measure - from a practical point of view as well as diagnostically relevant)? Where is the car's fuel pressure sender (correct, have no tech data for this thing!), so we can m...

Re: Audi A3 2011 2.0 TDI (8P1-CFGB) Crank no start, no DTC c

Maybe I will start to scope crank, cam, rail pressure and injector current. If the ECU does fire the injectors, that does mean that most likely you don't have an input problem, like a inertia switch (physical or software type of switch). Keep in mind that if you don't have enough pressure, the ECU w...

Re: Volvo XC90 - D5244T4

Permanent. Anything between few hundred and 20 000+ km. If ECM would stop regeneration then DPF would be clogged very soon. Definately in 20 000 km. I have validated by checking DPF pressure and accumulated soot quantity. Also by driving the car and checking exhaust temperature. Software version ma...

Re: Volvo XC90 - D5244T4

Yes I'm 100% on this. I have seen many cars that have glow plug fault code stored and they still regenerate without issue. I work with these Volvo diesels every day and newer had issue with that. ... Permanent codes or temporary codes? If permanent for how long they have the code? How did you valid...

Re: Volvo XC90 - D5244T4

Faulty glow plug does not cause DPF pressure sensor faults... For sure. At least not directly I guess... ...regeneration is still active. Are you 100% on this? Do you have evidence or documentation to back it up? There are some faults that disable the active regeneration process. I have witness tha...

Re: Volvo XC90 - D5244T4

Hi STC I guess that with the glow plug problem, the engine computer may not do active DPF regeneration. This at least will increase the saturation of the DFP in long term. Maybe that DTC is set based on a calculated DPF saturation that will not drop below 100% because of the above problem. It just w...

Re: 320d E46

Did you measure compression?

Or better, as STC suggested, register a crank compression waveform in each cylinder...

Can't help with crank vs cam signal, sorry, but the crank compression waveform may show something that indicates a bad correlation.
