The automotive drop down menu is only in the automotive version software. You can't download that from the Pico site. That software is not free. If you have your automotive version CD, install that first. Then, if you want to upgrade the core software, load up the web version standard software and i...

You are correct, Ric. The KV demand will be influenced by the largest gap in the circuit, as well as the timing of the spark and how much pressure is in the cylinder when it fires. The fuel mix also has a large influence. (lean drives up demand) Your maximum KV requirements will be experienced under...

Hey Doug, If it is a negatively controlled injector circuit, try setting up the trigger falling at say 2 volts, put a negative 10% delay on it and use single trigger to capture one event or repeat trigger to continue capturing each time trigger is crossed. Adjust time base to say 2ms/div to start wi...

Hi Alex, To use other pickups woth PicoScope and have them scaled correctly, you will probably have to configure a custom range that matches the probe attenuation. The PicoScope Automotive kit has an excellent set of probes and pickups and the automotive presets use custom ranges for the included ac...

Hi Steve,

What voltages are you working with? I have not seen one of those up close. Your 20:1 attenuators will allow inputs of up to 400 volts to be displayed.

Re: I understand better now!!

WHATS BEEN LEARNT No.1 Ok.. so instead of 2500 samples per scope trace.....I should be setting it to 32000 samples per scope trace. That explains where all the missing events went! Yes, when you want the higher sample rate and more resolution. This will slow the screen update rate though so, if you...

How fast you save files using 'save on trigger' is largely dependent on how high you have the samples turned up. Larger blocks of data slow the screen update. Here is a blurb on the sublect from my Pico Forum: The "Save On Trigger" function is a vert powerful feature when trying to capture that elus...

Flex Plate Picture

Hi Carl, Good point. Just because the relationship is ok does not mean that the flex plate is not broken. Sometimes these can be broken and be jammed into a normal position. They will eventially slip and then may go back to the original position and remain there for a time. Of course, loading the en...
