Re: 2004 PT Cruiser 2.4L HO Turbo

Is it an expansion valve or an orrifice tube AC system?

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

I bought the Iveco part yesterday for the van, this is (I am told) a backward compatible part with the Fiat system. The Iveco throttle body is of a different design, and does indeed use only 3 wires - meaning you must also buy a short wiring harness adaptor. The feedback circuit is not utilised. Pla...

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

Hi Kim, Yes I read the whole thing. In the case of the audi part, it is the feedback signal that is being grounded. In my case its the PWM. Could indeed be a similar stratergy though

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

Hi, Valhalla. I don't think the dropout (when the PWM goes to ground, and stays low for some time) is normal, becuase this only happens when the fault code is cycling between stored and present. Normally the PWM is stable indeffinitely (typically at 5% for idle once upto temp) and the drop out doesn...

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

Its 4 wire Kim. I found the same diagram as you have, which doesn't seem to have a feedback circuit on the earlier layout. No further progress really. I'm still at war with my local Fiat agent who sold the part to me - they are very unco-operative. I'm 99% sure the fault lies in the throttle body, b...

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

two more traces with current, taken this morning when the valve was faulty again.
Is anybody in agreement that the valve is indeed at fault? I'm getting to the verge of replacing it out of my own pocket but want to be certain its £300 well spent.

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

I only mention the resistance as I found a fiat training guide that was designed to breif tech's on the new range of engines and it included a paragraph on this throttle body. It states the 'Series and contact resistance' as 1kOhm +/- 0.4kOhm. Here is a picture of the passage: tb.JPG link here to th...

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

Hi Kim, there are no problems at all with the vans performance normally. Its a perfect drive. One final test I plan to carry out is a current check to the actuator. I will report back after having done that test.

Re: Do I have conclusive evidence

Just measured the resistance of the valve, the engine has been run upto temp from a cold start with no problems, and fauld code remained stored not current. Resistance across pins 1&2 is 1.2 Mohm. Stable too. There must be some electrical gubbins in the actuator beyond just a coil and pot, there mus...
