Keeping IMAC/USB awake while running picoscope 6 software?

IMac/usb ports alive while using the picolog software. That feature is working really good. I have not crashed the software/hardware on my IMac while doing a week long log. Whereas Picoscope crashes out if left running on the Imac for too long. I must admit to not knowing the Imac that well. Perhaps...

Re: 4423 or 4424 What's the difference?

Will do. I've got two projects. One monitoring Temperature at upper, and lower radiator hose to hopefully see the efficiency of the radiator/fan assembly. The other is to find the answer to parasitic drains that only appear when I'm not looking. I was going to use the reading of voltage drop across ...

Re: 4423 or 4424 What's the difference?

In continuation of this question can the PicoLog software be used on the the 4423 as if it were a 4424? When looking at Picolog software I did not see a version for the 4423 but for the 4424 yes? Thanks, Marcello

Re: Diagnosising old school ignition coil

Directed to "HiramTheGreat", Thanks for your insights. I agree with everything you've said. Our shop has gone from a European Mostly repair shop to a "Vintage Americana" shop. It looks really strange when I open the shop in the morning and there is basically nothing but Americana with a sign outside...

Re: New Pc To run my PicoScope

Thank you Steve for your input. It is most helpful. I just hooked up an IMac wasting away at home. Very nice screen @ 27", but I lost all the built in guided tests. Or at least I think I have. I'm guessing the linux version is the same. So, it will be back to a Windows based laptop. Everything you'v...

Re: Old Car, Old Scope?

Hello and thank you for the post. Could you confirm if there is a running issue with this vehicle? It would appear the event captured by the PicoScope has identified why the Sun Scope is responding like it is. What we can be sure of is it is specific to this vehicle (1950 Chrysler New Yorker) I agr...

Re: Old Car, Old Scope?

Yes to all of the above. I have set up a station for my PicoScope Now. Always set up. As soon as the new parts for the distributor arrive, and I've put it all back together I will scope it again (with foil) and see what happens. Looking forward to seeing it on the scope with my IMAC 27" screen. Yes ...

Old Car, Old Scope?

I never thought that working on some of these old cars would be such a pain. As a mechanic I always get others telling me how easy I have it working on all these older cars. Here is one to prove them all wrong. I just recently picked up a "New" to me Old Sun Scope - and this was the pattern I was gi...

New Pc To run my PicoScope

I've been Looking at moving away from my current IBM Thinkpad T43 laptop. I've always been hiding my scope away when I wasn't using it. I want to set it up to be ready to run at any moment. I'm going to set up a rolling cart for it. I have been reading about people using touch screens with there Pic...

Re: Diagnosising old school ignition coil

Thank you both Kev and Autonerdz, I will be doing more research along with some further scoping of known good ignition systems. Make myself a map to follow. So far I've been very surprised at what I did find. Mostly a whole bunch of nothing. The graphics in old books were not very definitive at all....
