Does CMP advance or lag relative to CKP when the timing chain is stretched? If your looking at the front of the engine and the engine is running clockwise, the tensioner is on the slack side of the chain (its not slack as the tensioner is there) and not the pull side, as the as the chain stretches ...

The cam trigger wheels arent keyed to the cams they are just free to line up anywhere so may need spinning in a direction a little bit but our mecedes dealer here says they get lined up by sight no timing tools for the trigger wheels??? Can't help but sounds like your mercedes dealer has no clue or...
