Re: Next generation automotive scope timeline?

Hi Alan

Is there ever an instance where we need to decode these data packets? Be it Flex Ray or CAN bus, aren't we just interested in confirming signal integrity?

Re: Next generation automotive scope timeline?

Hi Andrus

I think that you are over estimating the challenge ahead.

I have both 3000 & 4000 series Pico Automotive scopes & although the 4000 unit is superb, the 3000 version is still a very capable tool.

Perhaps I have my eyes closed?

Re: At last coloured test leads

It has to be said that, this has never been a stumbling block for me. My Pico 4 channel kit (supplied back in 2007) came with some coloured markers, that could be attached to each lead for convenient assigning. After a while I did find it effective to mark each lead with some coloured tape. The thin...

Re: Amp Clamp questions

You can call me anally retentive too, because I am constantly zeroing my amps clamps & not just the Pico low amps clamps either. They all tend to drift after a while & in my experience the Pico units are quite sensitive to external magnetic influences, in particular the magnetic influence that the E...

Re: COP probe really necessary ?

Hi Brit I have got to say that I can't tell if you are being sarcastic in your posts. When you wrote... "We call this Red Neck engineering in Tennessee ! : ) Thanks!"" I didn't know if this was a put down or otherwise. It's funny how easily "Net speak" can be so easily misunderstood. Have a good wee...

Re: COP probe really necessary ?

You will probably find that a roll of Tinfoil (BacoFoil Stateside) will suit the purpose just as well.

Take a look here....

Re: Waveform display issues

I tend not to be overly concerned with noisy captures. In the early days of scoping I became a little obsessed with trying to get a super clean signal, like those seen in the "Automotive Pre-set" examples. Real life capturing is seldom so tidy though & now Pico have given us the ability to apply fil...

Re: PicoScope 6.6.16 released today!

PicoScope 6.6.16 (which also contains PicoDiagnostics 1.4.30) is now available for download from http://www.picoauto.com/software.html . This release does not add any significant new features but fixes several customer reported bugs so is a recommended download if you have been experiencing any iss...

Re: What happened to "Duty Cycle Low" measurment

I was showing my students how to monitor a solenoid type IAC in class. When I added some measurements I couldn't change my duty cycle to measure the low portion of the waveform. As this was a ground side switched circuit. It was important to be able to do this as the "on-time" is the low portion of...

Re: distorted signal when when charging??

I use several laptops in the workshop & some of them display interference when the charger is plugged in.

They are not all HP laptops either. I have two Toshiba units that I have to disconnect from the mains supply, if I need a "super clean" signal.

It isn't a major deal though.
