Re: New Member Tom-student & Motor Signal Confusion

Hi Tom, I think you will find it will be a lot easier if you can post a screen shot or better still the PSD file so we can all see exactly what is going on, not only with the trace but the settings you are using to get the trace.

Welcome to the forum.

Re: GDI Injection timing

It would be Interesting to know about the GDI. I have done a bit of work on a 4.6 quad cam with an after market race ECU that was fully programable. We found on the rolling road that the point of injection did not make much differance to the running of the engine but it was a little more economical ...

Re: Cam timing, maybe ?

Liteace - I assume you are thinking along the lines of "It's just the same as using a cam and crank capture to confirm correct cam timing, eg if you have a known good trace you then know if your cam timing is right or wrong".

But - what controls the point of injection on a TDCI?

Re: training

Iv'e been, Thought the first day set of a bit basic (but I have been using other scopes for years) although by finish time I did come away having learnt enough not to think it was a waste of money. If you are new to scopes the first day will be very useful. The second day comes into it's own when yo...

Re: Used my scope tonight for the first time!

Ps what do you run the LC-1 on? A 4.6 Ltr V8 Quad Cam Ford, Just over 320 Bhp and around 320 ftlb torque, in and AC Ace Brooklands. Using a DTA Ecu and LC1, get around 26 mpg driving normally. Quite happy with the engine but we need to sort out the handling to give a bit more confinence at speed. W...

Re: Used my scope tonight for the first time!

Hi Gruss, Just working backwards on your last post, Injector waveform Ok, Yes when you post the psdata we can all view it in Pico software. This is one of the real benefits of this system. A fairly simple explanation follows. I also use a LC1 on a regular basis. I assume you know that the standard O...

Re: Used my scope tonight for the first time!

Hi Gruss, Try opening up your saved capture then at the top left of the screen click on the "A" where it shows chanel A,B,C etc. Tick the Low Pass Filter option and change the setting to see what happens to the waveform. Just have a play to see the changes. Try 3kHz for a resonable clear waveform wi...

Re: High RPM dyno diagnostics?

Have a look at this link and you will see two examples of canbus signals. On the first one, if you look across the bottom of the screenshot it is showing in "ms" per division and the second screenshot is showing "us" per division. I don't think you will see any missed parts of the waveform even at t...
