Re: Non-starting Cayenne

From SSP The Camshaft Position Sensors (CMP) G40 and G163 Effects of a Signal Failure In case of signal failure, the signal from the Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor G28 is used instead. Because the camshaft position and the cylinder position cannot be recognized as quickly, it may take longer to start the...

Re: MINI R56 2009

Has AD got this wrong, they say that the scope should be set at 5V 0.5 sec and provide an example waveform, Yes and No, Many variables, If you have a good car then NO they have not got it wrong. If you have a shorted / open circuit then the controller will need to know and will test for that. A Pic...

Re: Non-starting Cayenne

Cannot help you with a known good cam/crank right now but what is the history to this vehicle? With low compressions and late valve openings I'm thinking oil pressure, lazy hydraulic tappets ??? I'd be slightly intrigued. In the light of Crank and Cam sensor faults then chain tension - also governed...

Re: MINI R56 2009

STC, Given that you disagree with everything said, and you disagree with AD's test procedures as well, there is no pleasing you, so I have a solution. You tell me how the circuits based on the two fault codes should be tested, the only code returned is the lambda code after road test. Emulate the h...

Re: MINI R56 2009

hmmm I have just learned today after litace post to check the fuses and power supplies that unless the engine is actually running there is no battery voltage to the fuses, It runs and drives - it wont be doing that with 1v at the ECU power supply fuses. which supply the power supplies for the ECM, a...

Re: MINI R56 2009

This is confusing me the lack of pwm control of a post cat oxygen sensor ,not sure how this can effect fueling if shorted yes if linked to upstream heater I have seen lots of drops in upstream o2 sensors caused by downstream circuits an easy spot with the pico. Has the air mass plausibility dtc ret...

Re: MINI R56 2009

The car is a Mini R56 engine N12B14A. The customer was complaining about the engine running rough, she advised the revs would go up and down while driving. So we have female driver, and an engine that starts up and is driveable albeit with an EML and running not as well as it should. two such codes...
