Re: Surging idle, 91 Sable 3.8

Merricke, I just looked at your waveforms. I'm really shocked to see so much movement in the power circuit. Not exactly sure where you are taking this signal from but I'm very skeptical of it. It looks like some of the readings I've done myself. Can you try this - Just look at the power lead. Remove...

Re: Surging idle, 91 Sable 3.8

Merricke, I honestly don't know how those guys that run help lines do it. I am very hesitant to go along with your call of EPC. Now I am not saying it's wrong but I worry you are being mislead. I will admit I've never had to deal with one. I've never seen one go bad but that doesn't mean it doesn't ...

Re: Surging idle, 91 Sable 3.8

I just updated my post with the pics...and changed them jpeg. I can click on each one and get to the image for viewing and downloading. I hope you can? I guess we'll see. If this doesn't work I'll put them somewhere else and send you a link. I had a few moments at the shop but have to get out of her...

Re: Surging idle, 91 Sable 3.8

These are for a 1990, but almost identical. I already had them scanned in. This is from a book that really taught me how to look at Ford EEC-IV cars that were a problem. Usually you would hook a break-out box up between the computer and the wire harness to do your diagnosis, but you can do without. ...

Re: Surging idle, 91 Sable 3.8

If I remember right. It's been a while since I've worked on one of these. Going along with what Robski asked you. Grounding problems were notorious on these cars. There is black metal box, "the Integrated Control Relay module" that sits right above and behind the radiator that holds the relays for f...

Re: Best way to set up a pico to catch an intermittent?

This vehicle rarely exhibits it's problem. Most of the time when cold Does that statement mean it mainly faults from a cold start ? Yes Absolutely Post a capture of one complete revolution of the crank to see the complete signal . GoodDodgeStratusCrankSignal.gif When open circuit does the signal vo...

Good luck
Ah ha! Got it. That just makes to much sense. Thanks, Mab

Re: Best way to set up a pico to catch an intermittent?

It looks to me to be a bad sensor. I've changed it, and it is running without fault. I'm going to let it sit the rest of the day and restart it again. Honestly I'm not really looking for help at figuring out what's wrong with the car. I'm looking for help as to the best way to set the scope up to ca...

Best way to set up a pico to catch an intermittent?

I'm still learning this beastie. I've got a 4423 Automotive scope that I'm using to death. I've got a car, a 2006 Dodge Status 2.4l AT that is giving me some grief. I'm getting a P0335 crankshaft position sensor circuit failure. A new Standard Brand (not OEM) crank sensor has already been installed....

Re: Weird pattern when I added 3rd channel on 4423 scope

I wanted to post an update to my problems when I would want to use more than two traces. I started having this problem again today. Checked my grounds, added a couple redundant grounds. Still had problem. I suddenly started getting these "checking Usb Cable" messages popping up. Go back to 2 traces ...
