Re: Checking inlet metering/ SCV/ volume control valves

Ok will do but what should a known good show against say a sticky or slow to react solenoid? I.e high duty, current flow? Look at what it is commanded to do and what it is doing. Scope the Power supply, Duty Cycle, Current Draw and FRP Sensor. I like to drive them with a PWM Emulator, you will need...

Re: 207 misfire under load

What could cause a positive inlet pressure instead of a vacuum ? Vacuum is created by the throttle plate in the closed ish position, once the plate is lifted then it will move towards atmospheric. I would measure manifold pressure with an analogue gauge to verify MAP integrity. How is the PCV on th...

Re: Exhaust vibration??

Initially I thought a battery powered grinder had been used to cut the CATs off but now I'm not so sure, the cuts are very clean and no jagged edges at all are present, which makes me think the thieves are using something else to cut them off. These bad boys will put a clean cut in a pipe faster an...

Re: Mechanical Injectors Tests

I digress. That piezo clamp has uses away from the the old mechanical diesels. I have found some used for it on common rail and Hydraulic brake pipes on ABS. Can be used to catch a stuck / not activating valve in the abs pump. Is it the amplifier that had popped or as #picoben said in another post y...

Re: Mechanical Injectors Tests

this is a Transit Di. The injectors are not electronic controlled, they are pure mechanical hydraulic pressure operation only . Understood !!! In this case then I'm guessing it does not have CKP either ? However, if you do have a bee in your bonnet then perhaps get an abs wheel and inductive sensor...

Re: Mechanical Injectors Tests

I can't see at the moment if there is any value in this test? That would depend on how that engine is running. If it is running smoothly then you have a waveform from a "Known Good" In this case you have quite likely uncovered a testing error, on the basis that if it is running right and fuelling c...

BMW. E60 530d 2006. Key Fob not working.

The central Locking is fully functional on this car by using the Emergency Key and also the button in the car however not with any of the buttons on the key fob. I have looked at AD and cannot find much in the way of wiring diagrams. There is no spare key to help with the diagnosis either. I have th...

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Jose We may have to agree to disagree here. I would guess that many mobile diagnosticians use touch-screens, and the larger buttons make it a lot easier to use with fat fingers. I do some mobile work too however nothing is worse than a Screen covered in greasy fingerprints. I too use a toughbook wit...
