Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

Well this didn’t go quite to plan although we can confirm that it was definitely no.6 and it was most definitely a problem with the rod the only trouble is it’s now on the outside of the engine and we haven’t started stripping it yet  The customer kept changing his mind as to what was going t...

Scania Misfire

Today's subject is a 2005 Scania P380 DC11 Pde 32 tonne tipper, it come in with a fairly serious misfire and was breathing heavily and with a knock under load apart from the obvious breathing and oil staining around the breather pipe the visual inspection provided no clues and fluid levels were all ...

Re: Peugeot 308cc RHF Engine Will not start

I maybe way off as I know nothing about the specific system you are working with but I went out to a renault truck as a call out yesterday and that had a similar issue where it would run on brake cleaner but wouldn't start otherwise and it logged no faults, The dealer breakdown service had been out ...

Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

Well it seems we may still get an answer on this as I have been asked to continue to try and find the cause first so I am gonna get it running again and warm it up which will give me the chance to give it a thorough wash and hopefully see if anything leaks under pressure when its hot and then I will...

Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

Hi Steve, thanks for taking the time to put that together, I did try a similar thing last night but with nowhere near the detail of yours and they were both the same colour which didn't help but I guess that comes with practice. I got the chance to question the driver myself today and it turns out o...

Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

I decided at this point I needed to access and remove injector 6 and upon removing the rocker cover a visual inspection of the cam/valve gear revealed nothing and there was still no signs of oil contamination. After confirming the compression was low with a manual gauge I done an in cylinder with th...

Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

Due to the even pulses in the fuel rail pressure I was happy enough the injectors weren't the cause of the hydro-lock added to it being the rear most cylinder and with the engine angled slightly backwards points me to something entering via the intake. Normally I would suspect the Egr cooler dumping...

Re: Low Compression bent rod? WPS

The next step was to run the engine to show the Cam signal against an injector current to ID the offending cylinder, I used cylinder 2 as it was the easiest to get an amp clamp round at the ecu because the injectors are fitted under the rocker cover which is a mission to get off due to the air clean...

Low Compression bent rod? WPS

Having recently purchased a WPS500 I like to use it where possible even when I have a fair idea whats wrong to aid learning whats good and bad for when I have no idea. So I thought I'd share what I'd taken in case it may help others and also if I may be missing something which is highly likely being...
