Re: Volt drop for current measurements

Hi Steve, Whilst reading this, I was wondering about the degree of change in the resistance of the fuse as it warms slightly as current flows. It’s all a bit hypothetical, especially at very low currents (compared to the rating of the fuse). And, whereas you shouldn’t use an ohm-meter on a DVM to me...

Feature Request - X-Y in Maths Channels

I know we can display X-Y in real time, but I wonder if it's feasible to have an X-Y maths channel, with the option, naturally, to decide which of the 2 channels would be X and which Y. If it's feasible and if this isn't the right place to make the request, I'd appreciate some guidance on how to mak...

Re: Shared Ground Question

That’s excellent, Steve, thank you very much. This gives me added confidence in my use of the 4823. And this forum topic should become the reference answer for questions on this subject: I think you must have covered everything, thank you. “ Remember the introduction of a x10 probe includes an incre...

Re: Shared Ground Question

Hello Andy and thank you for the post A great place to start regarding common ground (shared ground) scopes and floating input scopes is here https://www.picoauto.com/library/training/voltage-drop-techniques-introducing-floating-inputs Coming back to your scenario of simultaneously measuring Hall E...

Re: Shared Ground Question

If the newsletter hadn’t highlighted this post, I would have missed it. I’m really grateful this excellent question was asked: Steve’s answer has cleared up a misconception I had and has given me a much better understanding of this topic. Steve’s mention of the possibility of the ‘scope’s loading th...

Re: One waveform One picture

Sometimes direction is all you need when it comes to diagnosis and whilst DTC's can point you in the right direction they can also lead you down a rabbit hole. When faced with the challenges of a crank, no start we must establish some basic essentials for the internal combustion engine to start. Fo...

Re: When to ground the Picoscope itself

Reading your excellent question and Steve’s equally excellent reply, made me try to remember the couple of times that I have grounded my ’scope. Thankfully, I documented it in emails to Steve. I made myself a grounding/earthing cable. I’m not familiar with US mains plugs because I live in the UK, bu...

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Steve, I've just taken your advice and updated my Early Access PS7. My previous version did send a couple of crash reports back to Pico, so, by upgrading, I give the team a chance to see which bugs are fixed. The one thing I love about Early Access is Dark Mode. Not only is the contrast superb - mak...

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Many thanks for, as always, your kind reply. As to “ Not sure how we ever managed before the internet? ”, as usual, you are so right; it’s a thought that still hits me between the eyes and takes me back to the days when it would cost at least half a day to go to Manchester Central Library just to fi...

Re: PicoScope 7 Automotive Software

Hi Steve In the Training Section (Training Videos) of the superb new PicoScope app for mobile devices, under “PicoScope Software - videos coming soon!”, is it the plan to centralise there all those excellent PicoScope 7 tutorial videos (most, if not all, of which are your work), such as those found ...
